She might not have found love on The Golden Bachelor, but Janette Bendle’s time in the spotlight is just getting started. The 61-year-old pilates studio owner and mum-of-two recently joined PR queen Roxy Jacenko’s agency, Ministry Of Talent, signalling a desire to continue a career in the media world.

Janette isn’t the only contestant hoping to capitalise on the Channel 9 series, with her co-star Catherine Kirwan also working with Ministry Of Talent, and Jan Herdman signing with DL COMMS. Janette told Yahoo Lifestyle that while she joined The Golden Bachelor with the hope of finding love, she’s now open to any opportunities that come her way.

“I hadn’t even thought about any of that going in — the best I was thinking is, ‘Ooh, maybe I’ll get some more customers from my pilates studio,’” she said with a laugh.

“But when Roxy reached out, I just thought, well, opportunities come at the right time for you, so I said yes, and I’m just loving everything about what I’m doing.

“I loved being on the show, I love the excitement of being around the cameras, and I’m just open to what comes along.”

Janette reacts to Golden Bachelorette rumours

In the final episode of The Golden Bachelor, Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden chose to pursue a relationship with Sunny Long.

The decision saw the pilates studio owner devastated, and she made a quick exit away from Bear when he revealed he wasn’t picking her.

After the episode aired, Janette shared a lengthy post on Instagram reflecting on her experience.

“I’m genuinely happy for Sunny and Bear, and I wish them love, happiness, and dreams that come true. No regrets. Just gratitude,” she wrote.

She also gave an update on her love life, using the hashtags ‘still single’ and ‘still looking for love’.

Her post quickly received an outpouring of support from viewers who said they were “shocked” by Bear’s decision and hoped that she would soon find the love she deserved.

A poll of more than 2,400 Yahoo Lifestyle readers found 68 per cent thought Janette was going to win.

Many people also suggested that she should put her hand up to star on The Golden Bachelorette, with Janette responding to one comment with a hand-up emoji.

Actress and TV personality Rebecca Gibney even got involved in the comments section, praising Janette for being “smart, funny, stylish and elegant”.

“I think the producers need to line up 20 MEN for you to choose from, just saying,” she wrote.

Jan Herdman rumoured for Golden Bachelorette

While Channel 9 has yet to green-light the spin-off series, which launched in the US last year, it appears fan favourite Jan Herdman may also be interested in the leading role.

DL COMMS director Drew Lambert recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that he believes the age transformation has a very exciting media career ahead of her.

“Whether she’s tapped to become The Golden Bachelorette or launches her own TV show about helping Australians over 50 live stronger, longer lives, there is a massive audience waiting for this kind of storytelling,” he said.

“There are also countless brands trying to connect with this demographic, and Jan is the one person who can speak to them with real conviction.”

Will there be an Australian season of The Golden Bachelorette?

The Golden Bachelor host, Samantha Armytage, told Yahoo Lifestyle that although nothing has been finalised yet, she would love to expand the franchise here.

“As we say with this show, you don’t know what the future holds,” she shared.

“So I think let’s just get The Golden Bachelor’s inaugural Australian season to air and see how that goes, but I think there is a bright future ahead for this show.”
