As this year’s season of The Golden Bachelor approaches its end, fans have called for one contestant to be cast as the next Bachelorette. While nothing has been officially announced, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that the format could be coming to Aussie TVs soon.

Transformation coach Jan Herdman, who received Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden’s first impression rose in episode one, was sent home on Sunday night’s episode just before the hometown dates. Bear told the 66-year-old it was a “hard” decision, and he “absolutely loved” getting to know her.

She kept her head held high as she left the mansion and said that while she wanted a rose to continue the journey, she was proud of herself for letting her walls down and being vulnerable.

“I definitely deserve love, and I know that,” she remarked in her piece-to-camera interview.

Although she didn’t find love with Bear, many fans have since taken to social media to say that Jan should be cast on The Golden Bachelorette if Channel 9 were to make it.

“You should be the next Bachelorette!” one person commented, followed by another who agreed, “Bear’s loss. The next Golden Bachelorette”.

“JAN FOR THE BACHELORETTE,” someone else said while tagging Channel 9.

“You were so dignified, articulate, and beautiful. Far too good for Bear — we look forward to seeing you on screen again!” a different user replied.

Will there be an Australian season of The Golden Bachelorette?

Following a successful first season of The Golden Bachelor in the US in 2023, a spin-off series titled The Golden Bachelorette aired in 2024, starring former contestant Joan Vassos.

Contestants from both The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette then appeared alongside one another on a season of Bachelor in Paradise, which was a huge success for the franchise.

Australia’s Golden Bachelor host, Samantha Armytage, told Yahoo Lifestyle that although nothing has been finalised yet, she would love to expand the franchise here.

“As we say with this show, you don’t know what the future holds,” she shared last month.

“So I think let’s just get The Golden Bachelor’s inaugural Australian season to air and see how that goes, but I think there is a bright future ahead for this show.”

Jan speaks out about ‘incredible’ experience

Jan admitted to Yahoo Lifestyle at the show’s launch event last month that she had an “incredible” experience filming the series with her co-stars.

“It was like we weren’t actually fighting for a prize, and I don’t know whether that comes from maturity, going through what we’ve all gone through, but I think Bear was a bonus,” she said.

“We formed such special friendships and special relationships.

“It was amazing — particularly for me, because I’m very much a solo person, and the thought of actually being in the house with 19 other women terrified me, but it was great fun.”
