The Orlando Magic managed to slow down the Boston Celtics’ duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in Game 1, but they couldn’t do the same to Derrick White.

White hit seven three-pointers and scored 30 points in the Celtics’ 103-86 win in the opener of their series with the Orlando Magic.

While Tatum shot 8-for-22 and Brown went 6-for-14, White was 10-for-18, adding two blocks and a steal.

Orlando managed to hang with the Celtics for a half, thanks to Paolo Banchero and his 19 points (he finished with 36).

But in the second half, Boston turned up the defense, holding Orlando scoreless for the first three minutes.

For the first 5:49 of the third, White was outscoring Orlando by himself in the quarter.

Tatum and Brown went 1-for-10 from three-point range, but the Celtics’ guards kept their league-leading three-point attack strong.

White shot 7-for-12 behind the arc, Jrue Holiday was 3-for-4 and Payton Pritchard hit 4-for-6 on his way to 19 points off the bench.

The Celtics may be concerned about Tatum going forward, as he fell awkwardly on his wrist after a flagrant foul from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

While the Magic are top-heavy — Banchero and Franz Wagner scored 59 of their 86 points — White and Pritchard showed Sunday that the Celtics have plenty of guys who can put up points.
