He might be setting the contestants’ hearts racing on The Golden Bachelor, but viewers were left uncomfortable by Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden’s strange act during Monday night’s rose ceremony. Many fans took to social media to question why the 61-year-old kisses every woman on the lips — even the ones that have been eliminated.

“Incredible stuff here, dumping them and then giving goodbye kisses on the mouth,” one person wrote following the mass elimination, which saw seven women leave the mansion.

“My daughter is creeped out that Bear even kisses the women who are leaving on the lips,” another added, while a third said, “Yeah, I thought that was weird”.

Neighbours actress-turned-podcast host Jordy Lucas even took to her Instagram Story to criticise Bear’s odd decision.

“Is it just me or is it weird that he kisses them all on the lips?!” she wrote.

“Even after he sends them home, he still puckers up?!”

Who will win The Golden Bachelor 2025?

Following Monday night’s dramatic episode, there are just five contestants left who are hoping to find love with Bear.

This includes Gera, Jan, Janette, Kim, and Sunny — all of whom have enjoyed a single date with Bear except Jan, who received the first impression rose in episode one.

Fans have already begun to share their predictions online as to which woman they think will win Bear’s heart; however, rumours are swirling that he won’t end up choosing anyone in the upcoming finale, and instead recreate Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins’ controversial finale.

Bear’s telling comments

This is largely due to a series of eyebrow-raising comments in various media interviews, with Bear telling Yahoo Lifestyle at the show’s launch event last month that he received some great advice from former Bachelor Matty ‘J’ Johnson at the 2025 Logies.

“He just said follow your heart, and that’s what I did, and I made the right decision,” he teased, refusing to reveal whether he actually found love on the show.

Meanwhile, when Brittany Hockley brought up her experience on the Honey Badger’s season of The Bachelor in an interview with Bear last week on The Pick Up, he hinted that he may have done the same thing.

“I had that option as well,” he said. “I think you’ll have to wait and see.”
