Fans gushed over this week’s co-host, saying they loved his ‘awesome fun energy’ with Jenna Bush Hager.
It’s been months since Hoda Kotb left the Today show, and while Craig Melvin has successfully stepped into her hosting role, one of Kotb’s other jobs at the popular morning show still hasn’t been filled.
As the NBC mainstay looks to find a permanent co-host for the fourth hour of the show, some fans think they’ve found Jenna Bush Hager’s new other half, calling him relatable and likeable.
NBA star Dwyane Wade, who appeared as a guest co-host for the program in March, returned to the show this week and promptly won over fans after sharing how he was starstruck after running into Scandal star Bellamy Young.

He explained that he and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, were at an event, admitting that he “didn’t know about this Hollywood life. I’m an athlete. And we were out, and I wanted to go.”
But when he saw Young, everything changed, and he called out to her from across the room, shouting out the name of her character, Mellie, on the hit ABC drama.
Young walked over and took a photo with Union and the 13-time NBA All-Star, he shared as the picture in question popped up on the screen.
The Today show posted a clip of the story on Instagram, where Young’s Scandal co-star, Kerry Washington, jumped into the comments to share that she does “the same thing” when she sees Young, calling her “the best.”
While some in the comments agreed that they would have likely acted in a similar manner, the overwhelming majority were instead focused on Wade’s ease in front of the camera and his camaraderie with Bush Hager.
“He’s so good as a daytime host,” wrote one commenter as another agreed enthusiastically, declaring, “Here’s your new cohost!”
A third chimed in to say, “Please hire him full time! These 2 have awesome fun energy.”
“He is such a relatable and likable guy!” one commenter wrote, as more shared that they “have become such a fan of him because of this show. What a good, genuine soul he is!”
“He is the BEST! Keep him,” said another.
