An Australian woman has captured the moment a lifeguard ran towards the Bondi Beach shooting to help save the wounded.
Jackson ‘Jacko’ Doolan was photographed on Sunday running from the neighbouring beachside suburb of Tamarama with trauma kits and first aid equipment.
He was one of numerous lifeguards who attended to victims of Australia’s second worst mass shooting.
Alleged gunman Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid, 50, stood on a footbridge connecting Campbell Parade to the Bondi Pavilion on Sunday night, firing shots into a crowd as people screamed and sprinted for cover.
The death toll remains at 15, with a further 25 people in hospitals across Sydney.
‘My lifeguard coworkers were the absolute first on scene, doing everything they could to help in a situation that could have very easily endangered their own lives,’ surfer and lifeguard Clint Kimmins wrote on social media.
‘The photo above is Jackson sprinting from Tamarama to assist.
‘I cannot begin to fathom what the families affected are going through, and I send my deepest sympathies to all of them.

‘What I can’t look past is the incredible work the lifeguard staff do at the craziest beach in the world, day in and day out, without hesitation, without ego, and without expectation.’
The image has been praised online by ordinary Australians, with some saying Mr Doolan’s actions ‘capture the spirit of Australia’.
‘Saw this lifeguard running all the way from Tama with his first aid kit. What a legend,’ the photographer wrote.
Thousands flocked to the world-famous beach on Monday night to pay their respects to the 15 innocent people who lost their lives.
Nine of them have been identified, including youngest victim, 10-year-old Matilda, who was shot in the stomach and died in hospital.
Her aunt Lina told Daily Mail that she was so shocked at the news of Matilda’s death that she couldn’t stop screaming.
‘I hope it’s never happening again to any family. We’re going through beyond devastation,’ she said.
Other victims included British-born Chabad Rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, French national Dan Elkayam, 27, Holocaust survivor Alex Kleytman, beloved husband and father Tibor Weitzen, Wellington Street synagogue assistant Reuven Morrison and retired NSW Police detective sergeant Peter Meagher.

Mr Meagher, Randwick Rugby Club first-grade team manager, had been on assignment as a freelance photographer at the Chanukah By the Sea event when he was among those who died.
Sajid Akram was shot dead by police during the massacre.
His son, Naveed, is in hospital under police guard after being shot. He is expected to survive and will ‘likely’ face criminal charges, police have revealed.
‘Based on his medical condition, it’s likely that person may face criminal charges,’ NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon told reporters on Monday.
‘I’m very mindful of not prejudicing any prosecution of that person put before the court.’
Mr Lanyon confirmed that Sajid Akram met the eligibility criteria for the category AB firearms licence that he held.
‘He was a member of a gun club and was entitled, by nature of the Firearms Act, to have a firearms licence issued,’ he added.

But he also called for calm in the community.
‘Retribution or acts against any part of any community will not be accepted,’ he said.
‘We will have a significant policing presence. This is a time for the community to come together.
‘This is a time that police will take action to make sure the community feels safe.’
