It’s been less than two weeks since The Golden Bachelor finished airing and Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden declared his love for Sunny Long. But rumours are swirling that the couple have already called it quits.

Fans noticed that Sunny attended her first post-show media event this week with her daughter, Chloe, rather than with Bear. The 58-year-old CEO walked the red carpet at Prime Video’s Fallout season two premiere in Sydney and posted a video of herself dancing and posing for photos.

While Sunny has previously admitted to not reading her social media comments, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that she was shocked by the “blatant racism” she received throughout the show, she took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to respond to speculation that she is now single.

“To put the record straight, Bear couldn’t come last night, so I took my daughter, Chloe, with me, and I had fun,” she said.

Sunny shared a follow-up post assuring her followers that she and Bear are still together, and said they are “very happy being a normal couple”.

“We don’t have to worry about arranging secret dates or something like that, so we feel free and very happy,” she continued.

“So please don’t believe whatever you read online or in a big headline, juicy title, about us, because I realise there are a lot of rumours out there.”

Sunny addresses longstanding Bachelor rumour

In another post, Sunny also addressed a longstanding rumour within The Bachelor franchise that the network pays the winning couples to stay together for a certain period after the show ends.

“One of the rumours says Bear and I are a PR stunt, and we got paid by Channel 9 to be a couple. That’s not so true,” she laughed.

“So please don’t trust all the articles when you read online. That’s not true. But I can tell you one thing, Bear and I are still together.”

Sunny fired back at wild claim

This comes after Sunny hit back at claims that Bear only picked her on The Golden Bachelor because she spoke about sex on the show.

She told Yahoo Lifestyle that there was nothing calculated about her and Bear discussing their sexual compatibility, and it was a perfectly normal conversation to have with someone you’re dating.

“The fact that some people think I ‘won’ because I spoke openly about sex really shows how much stigma is still attached to sex, especially when it comes to mature women,” she said.

“When the truth is that it’s a normal, healthy part of many relationships at every age. There is nothing shameful about that.”

She also pointed out that young people speak about sex all the time on shows like Love Island; however, when older women have the same honest conversations, it’s suddenly seen as “too much”.

“There is definitely a double standard there,” she said.

“People also seem to forget that this wasn’t just Bear’s choice; it was mine too.

“We were on a show to find love, and as my feelings for him grew, I wanted to understand his feelings around intimacy — that’s a normal part of the kind of relationship I want, and it’s a perfectly valid thing for a woman to care about.”
