He may have signed up for The Golden Bachelor in the hopes of finding love, but Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden also walked away from the Channel 9 reality show with an impressive pay cheque. As the series approaches the halfway mark, the salaries of both the show’s leading man and host, Samantha Armytage, have leaked online.
According to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Samantha was paid $125,000 for just two days of filming a week. The former Sunrise host told Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this month that she was thrilled to be a part of the series and help bring the Bachelor franchise into the “modern era” with a “golden shine”.
“I am so proud on every level, because I think it’s a great show,” she shared.
“I think the production of it has been absolutely brilliant, but I think from an emotional level, there are a lot of people in Australia in the same boat as these women and as Bear, perhaps, and they’re going through this stuff too, so this is going to resonate.”
Meanwhile, Bear was reportedly paid $75,000 for his 10-week stint filming The Golden Bachelor earlier this year.
“He didn’t need the money. He just wanted to prove to his boys and himself that he’s still got some game left,” an insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

How much money have previous Bachelors been paid?
Bear’s rumoured pay cheque puts him at the lower end of The Bachelor salaries over the years, with Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins reportedly paid $500,000 for his stint on the show in 2018.
Meanwhile, fan favourite Matty ‘J’ Johnson is said to have received $200,000 the previous year after coming second on Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette.
It’s also been reported that season eight Bachelor Locky Gilbert took home $100,000, while Richie Strahan only received $10,000 when he was on The Bachelor in 2016.
All of these figures are speculative; however, season 11’s Luke Bateman confirmed on the Confessions of a Reality Star podcast last year that he was paid $70,000 to star on the show alongside Wesley Senna Cortes and Ben Waddell in 2023.
As for The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk is rumoured to have been paid $300,000 to star on the show in 2017, while Brooke Blurton reportedly earned $250,000.
