Robert Irwin has revealed two things that he brings with him for every performance on Dancing With The Stars.

Robert Irwin has shared the very special reason why he has two items with him for every performance on Dancing With The Stars. The 21-year-old opened up about his two “good luck charms” ahead of this week’s performance on Wednesday (Australia time) and their sweet connection to his father, Steve.

The Wildlife Warrior was wearing a blue shirt that eagle-eyed fans would have seen him wearing on Instagram most weeks before performing, and had a gold ring on his finger. He explained that those two items are a way for him to stay “close to home” and remind him what’s “most important”.

“This is my dad’s shirt, I was going through his stuff and I found this shirt, it’s absolutely tattered and had holes and had all sorts in it and missing buttons, so I went and got it all fixed up,” he shared.

“I like that it still looks and feels like him.”

He kept some of the tears as he felt that each one “tells another story”.

“This shirt definitely saw a lot… I guess it’s kind of a good example of how dad lived his life, at a hundred per cent,” Robert added.

“So, every morning, when it’s show day, when it’s Tuesday, I put it on to go to the studio before we get into wardrobe, I do our first rehearsals and I’m always wearing this shirt.

“Before you guys see my dance in costume, I’ve always done that dance, at least once, in dad’s shirt.

“It just keeps me close to home, it keeps me close to him, it just feels like a big hug every time I put it on.”

He added that every time he steps into the ballroom, he’s representing his message, his dad’s legacy, his home and family.

“It is such an honour to get to do that,” he said.

Robert also said he wears the gold ring for every Dancing With The Stars live show.

He explained that the jewellery is “really, really special” to him, and has a connection to his childhood, dad, family and home.

While cleaning his dad’s office recently, Robert found a set of keys to his childhood home and he got them melted down and turned into a ring.

The Aussie star got the ring engraved with the number 1638.

“Because Australia Zoo, my home, is 1638 Steve Irwin Way, and I’ve been putting it on every Tuesday morning when I go in for the Dancing With The Stars live taping,” he said.

“It’s the most beautiful experience, and in some way, I want him part of it, because this experience has truly changed my life and I know I wouldn’t be here without him and his legacy that I get to continue.

“I’m just so grateful that I’m heading into the home stretch, this is it.

He added that he was proud to continue the work that his parents started and it was an “honour” to do that each week.

Robert’s mum, Terri Irwin, commented, “This is incredibly special and meaningful. Your dad would be chuffed for sure. He loved you so much.”

“Just beautiful! He’s with you every step of the way in this life,” one fan added.

“Love your heart, you’re a good young man,” wrote another.

“Robert you are so beautiful and so pure,” a third said.

Many others said that Robert and his dancing partner, Witney Carson, were destined to win the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars.

Robert’s sister, Bindi Irwin, won the competition 10 years ago when she was 17, so if the youngest Irwin sibling can take out the win, it would make the moment even sweeter.
