The season 11 finale of The Amazing Race Canada will feature Collingwood.

The finale will air on Sept. 16 at 9 p.m., and will feature Collingwood as the final four teams head into their showdown. Filmed in May, executive producer and showrunner Mark Lysakowski says not all the locations in the episode can be disclosed in advance, but shared that the episode kicks off at the Collingwood Terminals.

“The appeal of Collingwood is the beauty of the landscape and it’s such a great holiday destination and place to live. Small-town charm with all the great modern conveniences,” said Lysakowski in an email.

He said the community was welcoming, and it was a great place to host the final leg of this show’s season.

“We were thrilled with the welcome we received and hope the rest of the country enjoys discovering all the great things Collingwood and the surrounding area have to offer,” said Lysakowski.

While the Town of Collingwood is currently under a non-disclosure agreement until after the finale airs, the town’s manager of economic development Prerna Sharma said in an email that having movies and TV shows film in Collingwood can be a tourism driver.

“Having The Amazing Race Canada film in Collingwood is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our vibrant community and the unique experiences that Collingwood offers,” she said.

Sharma said the town often sees increased visitor traffic following high-profile broadcasts especially when iconic local landmarks or activities are highlighted.

“From a tourism perspective, productions like this not only serve as powerful marketing tools as they reach wider audiences and spark interest in visiting the locations featured, but also offer economic benefits to the community and local businesses,” she said.

The final four teams competing on the Season 11 finale of The Amazing Race Canada are Jesse and Jonathon (friends from Sherwood Park, Alta. and Woodlawn, Ont.), Grace and Joe (siblings from Prince George, B.C.), Skylene and Blair (also called Nipîy and Magoo, a married couple from Edmonton) and EB and Blake (brothers from Toronto).

The episode will feature a franchise-first “Double Roadblock,” where racers will be required to split from their teammate.

The Amazing Race Canada season 11 finale will air on Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. on CTV, CTV.ca, the CTV app, and streaming next day on Crave.

Sharma said if a production company or individual is interested in filming in a public area of Collingwood, they require a special events permit, and inquiries can be emailed to her directly.
