The Golden Bachelor Australia comes to an end this week and I think we can all agree it’s been an absolute doozy of a season. So, will we be seeing more Golden Bachie in future or was that it for the spicy new format?

Although the first season has received mixed reviews, season two plans are already on the boil and yes — you can unclench.

The show’s not getting the axe, no roses have been tossed in the trash (yet), but producers are apparently cooking up a few tweaks behind the scenes. Top of the list?

Expanding the age range to bring in a more diverse batch of contestants.

Translation: expect a broader mix of love stories, life experiences, and probably a few fresh sources of chaos when the next season rolls around.

As for the show’s host Samantha Armytage, it looks like she’ll be back for another round as the powers that be have been stoked with the way she’s performed this season.

Even though the series started off a little slow, Nine is still putting its faith (and a lot of cash) behind Sam. Insiders say her hefty pay cheque is a sign the network’s banking on her to keep viewers invested in the series.

Execs were particularly impressed by that real and honest moment in episode three, which gave the whole franchise the reboot it desperately needed at that point.

“All eyes are on Sam,” an insider told P.TV. “The show’s success is directly tied to her future at the network.”

Word on the street is that Sam’s contract comes with options for two more seasons — and there’s already a juicy pay rise waiting in the wings if she signs on.

Clearly, Nine’s not just betting on a comeback — they’re locking in their golden girl for the long game.

Will there be a Golden Bachelorette Australia?

There’s also chatter about a Golden Bachelorette-style spin-off — but don’t expect a carbon copy of the seniors’ dating show we’ve already seen.

Instead, producers are allegedly eyeing something a little more modern (and a lot more fun). Picture a cast made up of glamorous 60-somethings who still turn heads, paired with cool 30-something dog mums who do Pilates, drink natural wine and, crucially, actually text back.

“Australia might think they want this, but everyone wants authenticity over forced chemistry,” a source close to production told P.TV, sharing that the spinoff will look quite different from Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden‘s season.

So, less awkward dinner dates, more real connections — with just the right amount of chaos. Sounds good to us!

But don’t get too excited because according to Samantha herself, this is BS.

“As we say with this show, you don’t know what the future holds,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this year.

“So I think let’s just get The Golden Bachelor’s inaugural Australian season to air and see how that goes, but I think there is a bright future ahead for this show.”

With that said, it’s likely Sam was sworn to secrecy and things very well could have changed, so we’ll have to wait and see!
