Anthony Edwards was certainly in great spirits after the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Memphis Grizzlies 141-125 at FedExForum on Thursday.

During Julius Randle’s postgame press conference in the locker room, a jubilant Edwards could be heard making quite a wild statement.

“Yeah! I’m the best in the world, go tell all the girls,” Edwards said.

Randle couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. That’s a classic Edwards quote, and it’s the combination of his play and that personality that has made him one of the most popular players today.

Edwards certainly played like one of the very best in the NBA against the Grizzlies. The 23-year-old had 44 points (13-19 FG), five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block on the night.

The Grizzlies led 72-67 at halftime, but Edwards scored 18 of the Timberwolves’ franchise record 52 points in the third quarter to turn the game on its head.

The three-time All-Star was asked about his excellent play postgame, and he revealed that Michael Jordan inspired him to black out.

“C Hines, my trainer, told me to blackout tonight, so I tried to do that,” Edwards said. “… I know people gonna love this, he sent me MJ videos every day about blacking out.

I think MJ said something like, ‘Why would I worry about a miss if I haven’t took the shot yet?’ So, he be sending stuff like that, I appreciate him.”

Maybe everyone on the Timberwolves needs to start sending Edwards these videos. He wasn’t quite able to replicate those heroics in their next game against the Brooklyn Nets, though, finishing with just nine points while going 4-11 from the field.

The Timberwolves still won 117-91 and improved to 48-33 this season.

Grizzlies Fans Trolled Anthony Edwards With “Child Support” Chants

Getting back to the topic of Edwards and women, Grizzlies fans had hilariously trolled the guard during the game. The fans started chanting “child support” when the star guard was at the line, and all he could do was smile.

Edwards reportedly has had four children with four different women in just two years. There was a rumor floating around recently that he wanted to pay over $1 million in child support to cover payments for 18 years to the mother of one of his children.

That appears to have been a fake rumor, but it sure does seem like Edwards is having to spend a fair bit of money on child support. So, it’s probably not a good idea to tell all the women that he is the best in the world.

Edwards will be in action next on the court when the Timberwolves take on the Utah Jazz at Target Center on Sunday at 3:30 PM ET. It’s their last regular-season game of the season, and he’ll be looking to make a splash in it.
