Concerning details have emerged regarding Rudy Gobert’s split with his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla.

All has gone well for Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert on the court lately, but it appears there have been problems off it.

TMZ reported that Gobert dumped his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, when these playoffs began and shared some concerning details regarding the split.

“Rudy Gobert broke up with his pregnant girlfriend, told her to move out of his home and take their one-year-old son with her right at the start of the NBA playoffs, TMZ Sports has learned.”

Gobert and Bonilla had made their relationship public in February 2024, when they announced they were expecting their first child. They welcomed a baby boy, Romeo, on May 6, 2024, and Gobert missed Game 2 of the Conference Semifinals against the Denver Nuggets for his birth.

Everything seemed to be going swimmingly for the couple, with Bonilla and Romeo even attending the Timberwolves’ final regular-season game against the Utah Jazz on April 13.

The four-time DPOY embraced the two after the game, and you wouldn’t have imagined back then that they’d be splitting soon.

As for what caused this change, TMZ reports Gobert decided it was time to split not long after Bonilla told him she was pregnant with their second child.

She now reportedly wants to move back home to France, but the three-time All-Star wants her to stay in the U.S. so they can sort out child custody.

Soon after the TMZ report came out, Bonilla addressed the situation with an Instagram story.

“I’m going through one of the most painful times in my life, feeling isolated, far from my family and friends,” Bonilla wrote. “I considered Rudy the love of my life. I left everything for him.

I gave him a child and poured my heart into our relationship. When everyone criticized and insulted him, I stood by him, always putting him first and choosing him, always.

“Despite how I have been treated, I choose to protect his name for the sake of my children,” Bonilla added. “I have never ever been unfaithful to the father of my children.

I am a mom and I must prioritize my health and well-being. Thank you for respecting my privacy during this challenging time.”

Gobert’s parting ways after finding out about the second pregnancy led to suggestions that Bonilla cheated on him. She made it crystal clear that she hadn’t.

Gobert has also now addressed this subject with an Instagram story.

“A lot of inaccurate information out there…” Gobert wrote. “Julia and I are currently in the painful process of redefining our co-parenting relationship.

Being a father is one of the most profound and meaningful experience I will get to live. It is one of my most important life purposes and will be so forever.

“I’m fully committed to keep supporting the well-being of all the people that I care about,” Gobert continued. “I’m asking everyone to please refrain from speculating and to respect our privacy in these difficult times.”

Gobert didn’t elaborate on what part of the TMZ story was inaccurate. The 32-year-old’s statement didn’t appear to sit too well with Bonilla, who had a one-word reaction to it.

Bonilla has since made her Instagram account private. This has become quite an ugly situation, and it would be unfair to speculate before all the details come out.
