Cavallari feels she “really did a disservice to myself” by not having Camden, Jaxon and Saylor featured on her previous reality series

Kristin Cavallari’s kids will finally be making their TV debut.

Cavallari, who shares sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, 9 with ex-husband Jay Cutler, has always maintained her kids’ privacy despite her public-facing career, but she’s about to break that pattern.

On the March 25 episode of her podcast Let’s Be Honest, Cavallari revealed that her kids will be featured on her upcoming E! reality series, Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, after she deliberately did not have them on her previous show, Very Cavallari.

“That was the one thing with Very Cavallari — my kids are the biggest part of my life. And them not being on Very Cavallari really did a disservice to myself,” she said.

“I did a disservice to myself because if I can’t show the biggest part of my life, well, now we’re having to fill in all of these areas that would normally be my kids, and we’re having to force storylines.

And we’re having to basically make s— up. And I really regret that, to be honest, because it wasn’t an accurate representation of what was going on.”

Cavallari, 38, said she’s “all about authenticity” and that anytime she’s “done something that hasn’t been authentic, it really sticks with me, and it really bugs me” — and that was the case for Very Cavallari.

“That was one thing that really bugged me because as busy as I was, my kids were still my priority. And I was still home every night making dinner, and I told the Very Cavallari producers that I wasn’t filming at night.

Like, I was home every day by 4 to be there when my kids got home from school and to make dinner and have a normal routine for my kids at night. And it didn’t seem like that on the show.”

Cavallari stopped herself from going too far down a Very Cavallari rabbit hole, but she did offer some new light on how she did things differently for her new show.

“[Cameras] would come over at 6a.m., and they would get our normal morning routine of me making breakfast and packing their lunches and taking them to school,” she shares. “And even after, we’d be filming at home, you know, and my kids would come home from school, and they’d run in, and they would come on camera.

And we had dinner one night with the kids on camera, and it was very much what really happens in my life. And I’m really excited for people to see that, to see how normal my life is, honestly.”

She said her kids were “so fun on camera” and “were 100% themselves” the whole time.

“I was really nervous the first few times I filmed, and I just assumed that’s sort of how everyone else would be, but my kids were so cute and just themselves, and it was really sweet to see.

And they had fun filming, and they liked it. And I don’t know — it was a very, it was special for me to be able to share that with my kids, because, obviously, reality TV has been such a big part of my life. And so to be able to have that little piece with my kids was really fun.”

She noted that she’s going to be conscientious in the edit about how much of her kids the audience will see. “I would never want my kids to feel exposed or, like, I took advantage of them,” she said.

“I just think it’s a really fine line with children and entertainment and media, like, in my career. I’ve just always wanted to keep them kids, and I just never want them to feel used, quite honestly.”

“But they were really excited about filming,” she added. “It was more just a cool experience to have together. And, again, they wanted to. I mean, I wasn’t like, ‘You’re filming.’ I asked them if they would be cool with it, and they were all really excited about it. And they they had fun with it.”
