2025 has been a historic year for The Block family, with multiple cast members announcing their pregnancies. Not only have Emma and Ben Cox welcomed their first child together, but Mat Johnson and Foreman Dan Reilly have each revealed that they also have babies on the way.

Now, 2023 contestants Kristy and Brett Beames have shared the exciting news that they’re expecting their first child together, a baby girl in May 2026. The controversial couple, who made a cameo appearance on this year’s season, told Yahoo Lifestyle that they cannot wait to become parents.

“We are very excited to enter this new chapter,” Kristy said.

“Finding out the gender was a no-brainer for us; we are far too impatient not to know.”

The 37-year-old shared that she’s “feeling good” so far, although she and Brett have been very busy over the past few months renovating their Adelaide home.

“The renovation was not the smartest idea, but we don’t do things in halves — we are all or nothing kind of people,” she remarked.

“Our builder has promised us it will be completed by the time the baby’s due, so fingers crossed!”

Steph and Gian reveal ‘traumatic’ birth experience

The exciting news comes just a few weeks after their season 20 co-stars, Steph and Gian Ottavio, announced the birth of their daughter, Ilaria.

After sharing a gallery of sweet snaps on Instagram, saying that their newborn had changed their lives “forever”, Steph later revealed details about the traumatic birth experience.

“I ended up suffering from DIC [disseminated intravascular coagulation]. I had a mass transfusion, receiving 15L of blood to help bring my clotting factors back up,” she wrote.

“I haemorrhaged from my placenta and caesarian cut and without the supply of blood from blood donors, the incredible practitioners that worked tirelessly on me, modern medicine and the technology available in hospitals today, I wouldn’t be here.”

Kristy told Yahoo Lifestyle that while she and Steph live in different states, she would love to reconnect as they both experience motherhood for the first time.

“We are so used to being sleep deprived together, so it would be a familiar feeling just under different circumstances,” she laughed.
