Robert Irwin is just days away from doing his final set of performances for the American version of Dancing With The Stars. The 21-year-old had no dancing experience before being partnered with Witney Carson on the show, and has since received several 10s from the judges – not bad for a zookeeper.

The Wildlife Warrior has even revealed that his time on the show has allowed him to handle his grief following the loss of his dad, Steve Irwin, in new ways through two very emotional dances. Now, Robert has made it to the grand finale of the show, and fans are hoping he can take the Mirrorball Trophy home on Wednesday (Australia time).

But it won’t be as simple as putting the telly on to watch the grand finale.

How can Australian viewers watch the American Dancing With The Stars?

There’s been one question on every Aussie Robert fan’s lips since he first started on Dancing With The Stars in September… How can we watch the show?

Well, we have bad news.

Unfortunately, Australian viewers cannot watch the American version of the show on local streaming services, unless they have a VPN with access to US streaming services Disney+ and Hulu.

Even if you have Disney+, the content is geoblocked, so we can’t see it.

People often use VPN’s for increased privacy and security when using public Wi-Fi.

While it’s not illegal to use a VPN to stream content from other countries, it may be a violation of the streaming service’s terms of service and may cause them to restrict your access if you’re unlucky.

If you’re patient, however, the performances are generally uploaded to social media by both Dancing With The Stars and the performers themselves.

What can we expect from the Dancing With The Stars grand final?

The five remaining couples for this season, including Robert and Witney, are:

Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy

Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach

Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten

Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa

The couples will each do three dances, making it a very demanding week.

They will each perform a Judges’ Choice dance, an Instant Dance, and a Freestyle routine.

For the Judges’ Choice dance, the judges will provide coaching and insight for each pairing, while the Instant Dance Challenge is an improvisation challenge, where the couples only know the style or song minutes before performing live.

The Freestyle round is the final round and will allow the couples to show off however they like.

Here are the dances Robert and Witney will dance to:

Judges’ Choice: The pair will perform a Quickstep to ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ by Aussie band Jet.

Freestyle: For their freestyle, Robert and Witney are dancing to ‘Black & Gold’ by another Aussie, Sam Sparro, and ‘The Nights’ by Avicii.

The show will air from midday on Wednesday in Australia, so check social media around that time as the official Dancing With The Stars account will share photos and videos from then onwards.

How Dancing With The Stars helped Robert Irwin with grief

Speaking on the Chicks in the Office podcast recently, Robert opened up about how the show has made him reflect on his dad.

“For the first time ever, this experience has been a way to find this avenue to feel and express emotions from my own grief journey that I’ve never been able to truly embrace before and I certainly haven’t embraced publicly,” he said.

“I just hope for anyone particularly anyone young people watching who’s experienced that loss to see that and see I’m not alone.

“It’s really hard sometimes but what defines you is how you keep moving forward.”

How has Robert Irwin performed so far on Dancing With The Stars?

Witney has done an excellent job of turning a zookeeper into an incredible dancer, and she and Robert have earned themselves some exceptional scores throughout the competition.

The pair even managed to earn the first perfect score of the season in Week Nine for their emotional take on a dance his sister Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough originally performed in 2015.

The dance was set to Leona Lewis’ ‘Footprints in the Sand’, and was dedicated to their dad, Steve.

Here are all of Robert’s scores from the last 10 weeks on the show:

Week One:

Robert and Witney performed a jive to ‘Born to be Wild’, which was described by Derek, who is now a judge on the show, as the “best first dance” he’s ever seen on the show.

They scored 22/30 from the judges.

Week Two:

The pair performed a tango to Junior Senior’s ‘Move Your Feet’ and landed at the top of the leader board with another 22/30.

Robert said that he was “just happy to be here”, adding he’d never “dreamed in a million years” that he’d be part of the competition, but he was loving every moment.

Week Three:

Week Three was a night we all remember. It was TikTok Night, and saw Robert get shirtless on the dance floor!.

Robert and Witney performed a sexy salsa to ‘Million Dollar Baby’ by Richman, and scored another 22/30.

Week Four:

Robert and Witney did a cha cha to Zootopia’s ‘Try Everything’, in celebration of Robert’s cameo in the movie’s sequel.

Once again, they scored 22/30, with one judge saying that the dance lacked flow, and another said “it was clean, it was clear, it was sweet”.

Week Five:

Week Five was another to remember, as it was the week Robert and Witney dedicated their dance to his mum, Terri Irwin.

While many expected him to dedicate the dance to his dad, Robert’s touching performance to ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ was a truly special one.

Robert and Witney earned themselves a 35/40 for the special performance, where Terri joined her son onstage.

“My mum and dad created a legacy that I am proud to continue,” Robert said that week.

“I hope I can use this dance to share what she means to me, to our family, and to say, thank you for always supporting me through life’s ups and downs.”

Week Six:

Week Six was Wicked night, and Robert and Witney performed as Fiyero and Glinda in ‘Dancing Through Life’.

The judges scored the couple a 9 out of 10, giving them a final score of 36/40.

Week Seven:

This was Halloween week, with Robert and Witney performing an Argentine Tango to ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’.

The pair got their highest score of the season with a 38/40, and even scored their first 10.

Week Eight:

Robert said that Week Eight was the “hardest” to prepare for, with him and Witney performing a very high-energy Paso Doble to The White Stripes’ ‘Icky Thump’ for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night.

The pair once again impressed the judges, earning themselves another 38/40.

Week Nine:

Robert and Witney had fans in tears as they performed a foxtrot inspired by Bindi and Derek’s performance to ‘Footprints in the Sand’.

Bindi even joined Robert onstage for the performance, which earned him and Witney their first perfect score of 40/40.

“I feel so honoured to be entangled in the Irwin story, just even a little bit, it means the world to me,” Derek told Robert after the dance.

“What I can tell about your father is that he lived life with so much enthusiasm. You, my friend, are this generation’s beacon of joy and enthusiasm.

“You’re not just following his path, you’re dancing it.”

Week 10:

Semi-finals week saw Robert and Witney perform a jive to Prince’s ‘Baby I’m A Star’, which earned them a perfect 30/30.

They then did a Viennese waltz, which earned them 29/30.
