Following weeks of show-stopping performances, powerhouse vocals, and shock eliminations, the winner of The Voice Australia was announced in Sunday night’s episode. Alyssa Delpopolo was crowned the 2025 champion, winning the $100,000 cash prize and an all-inclusive recording development package.

The 20-year-old music student’s victory is particularly extraordinary considering she never signed up for the competition, and was instead invited to audition after catching Kate Miller-Heidke’s attention while sitting in the audience. Alyssa told Yahoo Lifestyle that she’s still in disbelief over how the experience unfolded, and it “feels like a dream come true”.

“I was just going to watch [the Blind Auditions] thinking, ‘I’ll have a good time, I’ll watch The Voice’, because I’ve always watched it growing up as a kid,” she said.

“I definitely was not expecting anything from it, so to be pulled out from the crowd was insane, and I would not have expected it in my wildest dreams.”

Alyssa admits she had never applied for The Voice because her anxiety and self-doubt held her back, but the experience has given her a newfound sense of confidence.

“I definitely wouldn’t have believed in myself enough that I could have done something like this, but I definitely have more confidence in myself now, and I’m just really proud that I got the chance to prove to myself that I am capable of doing something like this,” she said.

How Alyssa plans on spending her $100,000 prize money

Now that the competition is over, Alyssa has her sights set on releasing her own original music and putting out an EP.

While previous winners have spent the $100,000 cash prize on holidays or luxury items, Alyssa said that she will be investing the money into her career.

“It will definitely go towards my music,” she said.

“I really just want to get some music out there, because I really love writing original songs and I definitely want to get a head start on that.”

‘She was such an amazing coach’

Alyssa said that she’s especially grateful for the support of her mentor, Kate Miller-Heidke, whom she performed alongside in Sunday night’s finale.

“She was such an amazing coach, and she gave me so many tips and so much guidance,” she said.

“She’s just a really down-to-earth person, and she was unreal throughout the whole thing.”
