Draymond Green met Karl-Anthony Towns last Saturday after the former claimed the Dominican-American center refused to play against the Golden State Warriors to avoid facing Jimmy Butler, a former teammate-turned-rival during and after Butler’s time with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

NBA fans had previously blasted Green over his false accusation, prompting him to send his condolences to Towns on March 7 when the Warriors beat the Brooklyn Nets.

In their March 15 face-off, Golden State secured the 97-94 win over New York. Towns dropped 29 points, to go along with 12 rebounds and three assists, while Green managed to score just nine points.

In a clip from his “The Draymond Green Show” with Baron Davis, Green recalled what was said during his back-and-forth with Towns and how intense they both played that game.

“I love that he came out with that mentality,” Green said. “What I hate is when guys act like it didn’t happen. First play of the game, they give him the ball, he get me on the pump fake.”

After Davis tried to learn more about their in-game interactions, Green revealed Towns went in on him.

“I think this was a big moment for Towns,” Green added. “I called him ‘soft.’ He said, ‘Man, you a (expletive).’ I said, ‘Get him out of here. Go sit him down.’”

Green admitted he would have loved to see that reaction from Towns if they were teammates, adding that playing as physically as he played against the Warriors would have made him a more respected player.
