Kristy and Brett Beames are expecting their first child, a daughter, in May.

The Channel Nine stars shared the happy news on Monday and revealed a surprising secret.

‘No one else from The Block cast knows,’ Kristy told the latest issue of Woman’s Day. ‘That might not be a surprise to viewers.’

Brett, 37, and Kristy were labelled villains on the 2023 series after they continually locked horns with fellow Blockheads Eliza and Liberty.

Elsewhere in the chat, the couple said they are currently completing renovations on their Adelaide home and have not given any thought to a name for their baby.

‘I’m more likely wanting to meet my child before locking something in,’ Kristy said.

She continued: ‘My thoughts on her name is something I want to take my time with and make sure it is timeless and not something she will hate.’

Kristy also said that they tried to keep the news that she was expecting a secret for as long as possible, telling only their families and close friends.

During the chat, Brett took the opportunity to take a shot at the 2025 Daylesford season of The Block, which saw two teams go home empty-handed.

‘We weren’t surprised by the results [of the auctions this year] as much as the reactions,’ he said, referring to the hefty $2.99 million reserves on the homes in the tiny town in Victoria.

He added: ‘If you’re going on The Block for life-changing money and fame, you’re not there for the right reasons.’

It comes after Brett and Kristy made headlines after their Block auction back in 2023.

The pair lashed out after making only a small profit on their house, which sold for just $3,035,000 – only $65,000 above the reserve price.

‘Australia got what they wanted, so!’ Kristy sniped.

‘I hate to look ungrateful – $65K is massive to some people – but we gave up three months of great jobs, it doesn’t cover it,’ Brett added.

The pair then went to meet their fellow contestants, and Kristy shocked them by lashing out when they applauded her, making a scene in front of them.

‘Why would you clap? Sorry, everyone, but our agent s**t the bed, they f**ked it up for us,’ a furious Kristy ranted.
