UConn head coach Dan Hurley is one of the best head coaches in college basketball.

He led UConn to back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024 and was trying to three-peat this year until UConn ran into Florida. UConn gave the eventual champs a run for their money before losing by two, 77-75.

Walter Clayton Jr. came alive for the Gators down the stretch, finishing with 23 points. He led the team in scoring and was the best player at the NCAA Tournament.

There have been some rumors about Hurley talking to the Denver Nuggets about their full-time head-coaching position after firing Michael Malone this week. However, Woody Paige of the Denver Gazette wants everyone to know that there is nothing to those rumors.

“Somebody we’ve never heard of claims Nuggets and Dan Hurley have mutual interest in coaching job. There is no mutual and no interest. Other than that, everything else is ridiculous too,” Paige tweeted.

Hurley will continue recruiting for the Huskies and try to get them back to the top of the mountain in 2026. He has been the head coach of the Huskies for the last seven seasons and has taken them to five NCAA Tournaments.

Hurley has compiled a 165-69 record with the Huskies and they are his third team after coaching the Rhode Island Rams and Wagner Seahawks to start his career.

The Nuggets will look elsewhere since their 2024-25 season ends. They’ll be in the playoffs but will be coached by interim coach David Adelman.

The Nuggets are 48-32, good for fourth in the Western Conference and a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for third. Malone led the Nuggets to an NBA title two years ago before he was let go this week.
