Yesterday, Connor McDavid put the entire NHL on notice by signing a two-year contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers worth $12.5 million per season.
Many Toronto Maple Leafs fans were hoping that McDavid would come to the Maple Leafs in free agency, but now, that is no longer going to happen.
On Tuesday, McDavid’s good friend and adversary, Auston Matthews, was asked about the extension and McDavid’s decision to take a pay cut.
