Over the past few days, Ivan Demidov, Matthew Schaefer, and Beckett Sennecke have been separated by only a razor-thin margin at the top of the rookie scoring race, as they were recently tied at 19 points.

Beckett Sennecke takes the lead among rookies

On Friday night, the Anaheim Ducks snapped the Washington Capitals’ six-game winning streak with a 4-3 shootout victory in California.

In that game, Beckett Sennecke and Ross Johnston each recorded a goal and an assist, before Troy Terry and Mason McTavish settled the outcome in the shootout. Thanks to his two-point night, Sennecke now has 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 28 games this season.

The goal he scored yesterday was his 8th, and the assist on Cutter Gauthier’s tally was already his 14th helper, placing him right in the thick of the rookie scoring leaders in the National Hockey League.
