We received major news last night regarding Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine.

While many concerning rumors had surfaced suggesting a possible new injury to the same knee for Laine (which would have been devastating), GM Kent Hughes has just dismissed that possibility outright.

We love it.

Kent Hughes has confirmed that Patrik Laine is NOT injured in the knee

This is obviously news that delights Habs fans!

“No one knows exactly the nature of the injury, but Kent Hughes revealed that his forward is not suffering from a knee injury like last season.

That’s what Jonathan Bernier reported in an article for the Journal de Montreal on Thursday.”

According to TVA Sports’ Jonathan Bernier, we learn that it’s something completely new.

“However, what the general manager assured is that this lower-body injury for the Finnish forward has nothing to do with the left knee sprain he suffered during the preseason schedule in September 2024.

It’s something completely new,” he stated.

“This would be an entirely new injury in the case of the Finn”

“When you’re injured somewhere, it puts pressure elsewhere. That’s what happened with Sean Monahan.” – Kent Hughes

This can only be good news – at least under the circumstances.

Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated on every development regarding Laine, who, as a reminder, went to see a second doctor for another opinion.
