As the Montreal Canadiens continue to build for the future, whispers about hidden gems within their prospect pool are beginning to surface.

While fans eagerly track the progress of high-profile names like Juraj Slafkovsky and Lane Hutson, a lesser-known talent is quietly generating buzz among those who know the game best.

Vinzenz Rohrer, a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, has been making waves overseas with the ZSC Lions, helping his team capture back-to-back Swiss League championships. But what truly sets Rohrer apart isn’t just his impressive résumé—it’s the electrifying comparison made by someone who’s faced him head-on.

In a recent interview, former Canadiens prospect Tim Bozon offered a stunning assessment, likening Rohrer to none other than Brendan Gallagher, one of Montreal’s most beloved and relentless forwards.

Bozon’s glowing endorsement, rooted in firsthand experience, raises intriguing questions about Rohrer’s potential impact on the Canadiens’ future. Is Montreal quietly grooming its next fan-favorite workhorse? What qualities does Rohrer possess that evoke memories of Gallagher’s grit and heart? And how might his journey from Austria to Switzerland shape his path to the NHL?

The answers may surprise you. Read on to discover the story behind hockey’s latest rising star.

There are some Montreal Canadiens prospects that few people talk about, but who could very well make their way to the Quebec metropolis one day.

That could be the case with Vinzenz Rohrer, a third-round pick by the Canadiens in the 2022 draft – the same class that brought us Juraj Slafkovsky, Lane Hutson, and eventually Owen Beck.

Originally from Austria, the now 21-year-old forward plays for the ZSC Lions in the Swiss League, where his team has won two consecutive championships.

In an interview with Nicolas Cloutier, former Canadiens prospect Tim Bozon – who currently plays for Lausanne and has faced Rohrer in the last two league finals – drew some interesting comparisons between Rohrer and none other than Brendan Gallagher.

The acquisition of Vinzenz Rohrer is a successful one for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, according to Tim Bozon

We love to hear that!

“He’s incredible.
I really think he’s a Gallagher 2.0.
And I’m not even saying that just because he was drafted by Montreal.
If you told me he was drafted by Anaheim or Boston, I’d say the same thing.
He’s a Gallagher.”

Those are some very encouraging words about Vinzenz Rohrer from a player who knows what he’s talking about – Bozon himself was selected by the Canadiens in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft, and as TVA Sports’ journalist reports, he’s had plenty of experience against Gallagher.

“I faced Gallagher in his final year in the WHL.
I attended several camps with him in Montreal.
We even trained together one summer.”

That’s exciting to hear!
