Why didn’t Martin St-Louis and the Canadiens push harder on that issue?

“Patrik Laine was sent out as the second shooter by Martin St-Louis, and the score was still 0-0 according to everyone, even though the Hawks were ahead 1-0.
The Habs requested to retake the second shot after the necessary pause to clarify the confusion.
Permission was denied.”

At the very least, that permission should have been granted to the Montreal Canadiens!
