Welcome to the most mammoth Room Reveal Sunday of the year!

Today, there are 25 separate rooms to complete, style and judge. We’re tired just thinking about it!

But first things first, Sonny fronts up to Taz for dobbing him in to Foreman Dan.

This year, the teams have been allowed to work ahead on landscaping and landscaping only.

Although, Sonny realised that House 3 had been working ahead on their alfresco deck area, which although outside is technically not part of landscaping this season, and therefore counts as breaking the ‘no working ahead’ Block rule.

Dan has punished them with a no-trades day next Monday, which is obviously not ideal.

Sonny’s not sorry, per say, but he does explain his position and Taz begrudgingly accepts his not-quite-an-apology.

Besides, it’s hard to panic about next week when you still have FIVE rooms to complete this week.

Sounds like a good time to get back to work.

Eventually, it is ACTUALLY time to get back to work and everyone’s putting their finishing touches on their (many, many) rooms.

House 3 are going ‘bougie’ in their garage, which means lots of hard work for Taz installing their checkered floor and a unique secret weapon: a real vintage MG to style their garage.

The problem? It’s not unique at all.

It’s like an MG car show on site, as Houses 1, 2 and 5 all have cars delivered too.

Saturday night ‘fight night’ rolls around, and it does not disappoint, before the Sunday morning scramble and of course, tools down.

With a whopping 25 rooms to look at this week, Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox have their work cut out for them!

Emma and Ben

Emma and Ben are intrigued by how the trio will judge five separate places that are… well, not the most exciting rooms in the house, right?

What IS exciting is their elevated washer and dryer.

“This is something I’m definitely going to be taking home and replicating in my place, I think it’s fantastic,” Marty says. Big praise!

Darren loves the chestnut colour palette of their cabinets and how elements of the floor tiles and splashback match.

But functionally, Shaynna’s confused.

Not only are the coffee and tea miles away from their fridge, but there are two sinks taking up valuable preparation space.

“It is almost unworkable,” she says.

Into the powder room, where the mood changes a lot.

The basin, wallpaper and colour drenching of the “really lovely, cosy little space” have them very excited.

The neighbouring mud room, not so much. It’s not luxurious enough and is also lacking functionality, with no hanging space.

Last up, their garage features wallpaper with a vintage photo of the Daylesford lake which the judges enjoy.

That, and the classic car, are really all Marty has to love.

“It’s a great big garage but there’s not much in here,” he says.

He thinks the underwhelming space is missing some story telling elements to help sell the dream.

Han and Can

Can thinks this week was “marvellous”, while Han thinks it was “a lot”. Who will the judges be more in line with?

Marty quickly clocks how House 2 uses the pantry and laundry space better than House 1, with bench space, more appliances and a sink only steps away from the main kitchen.

“It’s not just a walkway. It’s a visual and functional connection to the kitchen,” Darren agrees.

Marty is disappointed that there is no second fridge, but that’s his only criticism.

The way they have created a clear delineation between the pantry and the laundry is clever, as is their decision to add a door outside from the laundry.

“You want to be here,” Shaynna says, a clear difference to how she felt in House 1.

Into the mud room, where they’ve once again ticked the boxes their neighbours didn’t: a comfy seat and hanging space.

In the powder room, the basin makes Shaynna “smile”. She loves the wallpaper and lighting choices too, though thinks the floor tiles and toilet mat are “revolting”.

Overall though, it’s a huge win.

“This is the fun house that has this elegance and luxury, it’s got the shiny, glossy things but it actually works,” Marty praises, pointing out that their point-of-difference in not going for ‘country’ styling may be a winning one.

Han’s pet project, the garage, is last and the very dramatic space “just wacks you in the face”.

Having so much amenity while also being “aesthetically beautiful” impresses the judges.

“This is showroom quality in a residential setting,” Marty says.

He’s willing to make a big call: “This could be the dark horse. Han and Can might come riding through on Auction Day on the back of their Harley, revving it hard.”

Britt and Taz

After failing to finish last week, House 3 have come right with five complete – and bougie – spaces they are happy with!

The judges turn into a dramatic pantry space, with bench and sink flanked by an entire wall of storage space.

“Darren said, ‘this is the best way to handle this space, bar none,’” Scotty reads.

For Shaynna, the only flaw in an otherwise sophisticated and timeless space is the lack of fridge.

The laundry is, oddly, “sexy”, which are not words you hear every day.

Shaynna can feel the love Britt and Taz have put in and thinks buyers will as well.

In the mud room, the bench is Darren’s favourite so far.

He also thinks the powder room’s pink tile is “gorgeous”.

“And we’ve got mirror ceiling to floor underneath [the bench], how gorgeous!” Shaynna points out.

The room is cosy and warm and in Marty’s real estate perspective, stands out among the houses.

“Sounds like us three want to buy it,” Marty jokes.

“This is the first house today where we all go, ‘I’d live here, I’d buy it,’” Shaynna replies. Is that the highest praise of all?!

Last up is the garage, where – you guessed it! – the gushing continues.

“Is it a garage or a gallery?” Marty reacts.

“Both!” Darren replies.

With Bromleys on the gold walls and strip lighting on the floor, it’s both luxurious and feels like an extension of the style inside the home.

Slam dunk, House 3!

Sonny and Alicia

From their 10th wedding anniversary to judging, it’s been a big week and Sonny and Alicia are hoping to finish with a win.

While the floor tiles of their pantry give a good first impression, the underutilisation of the space is clear.

“There’s nothing here other than the coat hooks. A beautiful solid shelf along could be a simple resolution,” Marty says.

Around in the laundry, the drying cabinet gets Shaynna very excited. It’s the first one they’ve seen and she wants one.

The finishings of the space, from the taps to the drawer handles, also impress the trio… as does the fridge! Yes, the first fridge of the day!

Darren thinks that both the laundry side and the pantry side do everything you want them to do.

He just finds it odd to have the one space doing both at once.

As Darren sits down to critique the mud room, he’s distracted:

The powder room commands all attention from here on out. From the basin to the very expensive stone, it is “hot”.

“This is unfaultable,” Marty says.

Last up in the garage, the wallpaper featuring the paddock behind the houses is a “phenomenal” inclusion.

The floor is just right, and the sensible and cost-effective bench space is great too.

It’s not as high-end as the others, but it’s a garage, so does it need to be?

Even here, the judges can’t stop thinking about the powder room inside – safe to say that’s going to carry their scores!

Robby and Mat

It’s been an inspection nightmare this week for House 5, but they’ve come out the other side with five complete rooms. Who would’ve thought?!

They made a bold call to create a European laundry, with their appliances hidden behind doors in the space’s entranceway.

While it looks lovely, Marty immediately thinks this is a mistake in a house that has plenty of space for a full sized laundry.

“It is form before function,” Darren says.

But the pantry, which is now much larger, gets a lot of love.
The French Pattern tiles scream country, as does their choice of sink. It ticks all the amenity boxes with not just a fridge, but a freezer as well.

After seeing how well this space works, Darren reassesses his thoughts on the Euro laundry.

Because there is plenty of bench space to use in the pantry, his only issue with it now is the doors. Remove those, and it’s a clever choice he can get onboard with.

They don’t even get to the mud room before Shaynna is distracted by the bold powder room.

The tropical wall paper and chandelier is a left field choice that feels “a little bit Hepburn, a little bit Daylesford” and is surprisingly very fitting.

What isn’t fitting is the choice to tile behind their mud room seating, which is also lacking hanging space.

Onto the FINAL of 25 rooms today which is, besides two MGs, pretty empty.

The car cleaning kit on the fall is a great inclusion that adds value to the home, but other than that there’s not much to critique!

Phew, we made it. Score time!

As Scotty disappears to write Shaynna’s scores, it’s a very tight race.

But then… it’s a 10! Shaynna has given Britt and Taz a perfect score, securing them the win over Han and Can by just half-a-point.

The final scores are:

Emma and Ben: 22
Han and Can: 27.5
Britt and Taz: 28
Sonny and Alicia: 26.5
Robby and Mat: 25.5

Scotty then announces the CommBank $10k winner is… nobody.

Everyone went way over budget this week, especially Han and Can who spent a mind-blowing $20k more than suggested.

So, CommBank cash will jackpot! Next week, the best managed budget will receive double.

And with that, the internals of the homes are COMPLETE. What a rollercoaster ride it’s been!
