Connor McDavid spoke to the media today fresh off his historic contract extension, and reiterated his message that winning the Stanley Cup is all that matters.

News broke yesterday of McDavid’s extension and his astounding salary discount. It’s just a short-term deal, but McDavid taking so much less salary to help the team was a selfless display, and proved winning is his top priority.

Multiple times, McDavid stressed that he’s in a unique situation to ruthlessly pursue the Stanley Cup. The Oilers don’t have the best future outlook, but their current core is right on the cusp of winning.
