The Irwins are rumoured to have landed a mega reality TV series in the US, with Robert’s Dancing With The Stars fame fuelling Hollywood’s frenzy to cash in on the Aussie wildlife dynasty.
You’ve heard of Keeping Up With the Kardashians – but soon it may be Keeping Up With the Irwins.
The famous Aussie wildlife family is said to have signed a lucrative reality TV deal in the United States, striking while 21-year-old Robert’s star power is at its peak.
Robert, hailed a “producer’s dream”, has wowed American audiences on Dancing With The Stars.

His sister Bindi, 27, and mum Terri, 61, even relocated to Los Angeles to cheer him on during filming.
On Tuesday, a source close to the Beerwah-based clan told New Idea that a docuseries centred on Robert and featuring the rest of the family is “pretty much a done deal”.
“Hollywood is going absolutely gaga for the Irwins right now,” the insider said.
“Robert is getting so much attention on Dancing With The Stars, and that’s created this surge of interest in everything to do with the family.”
Robert’s debut DWTS performance – a high-energy jive in full safari gear, capped with one of his late father Steve Irwin’s trademark poses – earned top scores on the night.
Judge Derek Hough, who helped Bindi take the Mirrorball trophy in 2015, declared it “the best first dance I’ve ever seen on the show”.
The following week, Robert and partner Witney Carson again topped the leaderboard with a lively tango to Move Your Feet by Junior Senior.
“Every season producers have their clear favourites they kind of give the ‘hero’s edit’, but this year, it’s not even fair for the other contestants,” a source told The US Sun.
“The show is all in on Robert.”
Producers are said to be leaning into the 21-year-old’s resemblance to his father, the Crocodile Hunter, who died tragically in 2006 at just 44.
The American public remains “fascinated” by the family’s “unorthodox life” at Australia Zoo, the source added.
Still, the Irwins are reportedly cautious.
“For them to agree, it would have to be classy,” the insider told New Idea.
“They’re not going to want to jeopardise their family name. But that’s not something execs are closed off to. The feeling is they’ll give in to whatever the Irwins want because this family is a potential goldmine.”

The whispers come after Robert’s net worth was pegged at around AUD $5 million, mostly from his own presenting gigs such as ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and paid partnerships, including his widely successful Bonds campaign.
In contrast, the Crocodile Hunter’s fortune turned out to be quite modest, even though he cultivated a loyal global following through his TV series, The Crocodile Hunter, and the movie The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course.
This film, which was released in 2002, grossed an impressive $33.4 million on a budget of $12 million.
According to realestate.com.au, Steve left just $200,000 in life insurance to his children, with most of his wealth tied up in the running of Australia Zoo.

Terri has previously admitted how tough it was after his death.
“Everything was reinvested into conservation work,” she told the Australian Financial Review in 2024.
“I was in debt… and Steve’s life insurance, I think, was the sum total of $200,000, which didn’t even cover half of one week’s payroll.”
Robert himself has acknowledged the financial strain of running Australia Zoo, located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

In 2022, he told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa it costs a staggering $80,000 every week just to feed the animals.
It is understood Robert received US $125,000 (AUD $188,921) for the first two weeks of DWTS.
This amount could increase to $295,000 and possibly as high as $400,000 if he progresses to the final weeks of competition.
