Since around 12:30 PM today, the Ivan Demidov situation has started buzzing again.
While we believed the matter was officially settled, that we were supposed to move on for the year, and that he was going to finish the season in the VHL (SKA’s farm team), it turns out some things are happening.
In fact, the news of the year has just dropped for the Montreal Canadiens!
First, there’s the excellent insider Marco D’Amico, who had posted this:
Ivan Demidov is released by SKA and will finish the season with the Montreal Canadiens
And he then announced some massive news.
Ivan Demidov speaks to RG immediately after ending his contract with SKA!
“I’ll probably have time to play regular season games for Montreal”
Ivan Demidov is coming to the Montreal Canadiens, ladies and gentlemen!

SKA and Ivan Demidov have made a mutual decision: the forward will join the Montreal Canadiens this season.
His KHL rights will remain with SKA. He will return to Saint Petersburg if he does not break into the NHL.”

Ivan Demidov has been released by SKA and will be joining the Montreal Canadiens in the coming days.
