We mentioned earlier how much of a huge hockey enthusiast Lane Hutson is – a true diehard – and well, it’s exactly the same for Demidov.

Ivan Demidov asked Kent Hughes and the Canadiens if he could pay out of his own pocket to skate even more this summer in Brossard.

That’s an extremely unusual request, and surely a first for Kent Hughes.

Ivan Demidov wasn’t satisfied with being able to skate as much as he wanted, every day and every morning, this summer in Brossard.

He wanted even more!

It was captain Nick Suzuki who made this rather incredible revelation in an interview with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman:

“According to Nick Suzuki in an interview with Sportsnet, Ivan Demidov was renting ice time throughout the summer just to skate a second time during the afternoons and work on his game.”

We’re genuinely excited to see Ivan Demidov play his first full season, and it’s already clear he’s a special young man. He’s put up 4 points in 6 games while averaging just over 14 minutes of ice time per game.
