I think Montreal more or less held its ground.
Evans then ultimately decided that he didn’t want to leave.”

So, it was Jake Evans who accepted less money, and it was Jake Evans who made the decision that he absolutely wanted to stay in Montreal.
A true loyal player!
His agent knew very well that Jake could have gotten much more on the free-agent market, probably over two million dollars more per year..
But Evans genuinely wanted to stay in Montreal, and so did his spouse!
The decision came directly from Jake himself, and he took the initiative to accept Kent Hughes’ firm offer.
