A post-game video of Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews rallying the troops after winning on Monday has gone viral for showing his fiery side.

Although you will find instances of Auston Matthews celebrating a goal, or showing a lot of passion, there are often times when you would expect him to be highly emotional but manages to keep a cool head, and doesn’t seem to let much get to him.

It’s both a blessing and a curse, as it gives him a much clearer perspective of things but gives fans a lot of frustration because often times when they want him to speak up, he doesn’t.

Auston Matthews Fires Up Team With Passionate Post-Game Speech

He was not too pleased with how his team played on Monday against Pittsburgh, at least for the first 40 minutes, and was blunt in his assessment of the team; knowing they need to go back to the drawing board.

Though if you were to take a glimpse into the locker room afterwards, you’d of certainly heard his excitement.

A new video from the Maple Leafs shows Matthews rallying the team and giving them praise after a hard-fought comeback win over the Pittsburgh Penguins; a game they were dominated in for the majority of the contest:

That third period that’s who we are. We’re a tenacious team, we work, all four lines. Great f***** win let’s keep it going.

Matthews was then given the championship belt bestowed to the player of the game, and was given to him by rookie forward Easton Cowan after Morgan Rielly essentially shooed away the spotlight afterwards.

Cowan, who got it last game, made sure to commend his captain for kicking things off in the right way.

The captain had the first goal for the team, and was an absolute stud on the PK, with two key plays that prevented Pittsburgh from getting any momentum.

All credit to Anthony Stolarz as well, who weathered a flurry of shots from the Penguins and made sure that the Maple Leafs were kept in the game for the entire night.

It’s hopefully a sign of good things to come for Toronto, and they are clearly motivated after this game to take what they did in the last period and apply it to every game.

If they are able to do that, it could be a much better season not only now, but come the postseason too.
