The Block’s Dan and Dani Reilly have marked an important milestone nine months after their daughter Billie entered the world.
Dan and Dani announced the devastating passing of Billie Vera Reilly at just 10 days old in December 2024.
In September 2025, Dani shared a poignant message as she shared that Billie’s impact has raised almost $150,000 for The Royal Women’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit.

“There’s no ‘9 months in, 9 months out’ photo for us today — just the continued emptiness that losing Billie has brought. But today, 9 months since this beautiful being entered the world I have to acknowledge the impact she’s managed to have,” Dani penned.
Dani shared that their Billie’s Besties fund has raised $147,627 for The Royal Women’s NICU as of September 2025.
That money has directly assisted the purchase of a new state-of-the-art cardiac ultrasound machine for the unit.
Dan and Dani have plans to continue to raise money with new Billie’s Besties merch being designed and a “very very special picture book” coming out too.
Dani continued: “Millions know about our Billie, and about the heartache that comes with infant loss — something that is rarely spoken about.
She shared that Billie was supposed to be born to the song Into The Mystic by Van Morrison, but instead it was “the song she left this life to”.
“I’ve always heard it as a celebration of life but now also as a peaceful acceptance of mortality — her soul returned.
“There is honestly no healing or acceptance even, that can possibly come with losing a baby, just a softening and the ability to move through each day just a little lighter than the one before.
“Billie, you are pure magic.”
In the comment section, friends and followers were in awe of what Billie, Dan and Dani had acheived.
“Thats amazing what you have achieved for NICU 🙏 May Billie’s memory give you both the love, strength and courage you so deserve and need,” one wrote.
While another said, “Nine months of being blessed with the best parents in the world who continue to honour their beautiful daughter Billie and continuing her legacy.”

“But in the moments before her arrival, everything changed. Billie suffered distress during birth, the cause of which will never be known, and her tiny body was deprived of oxygen for too long.
“Despite the incredible efforts of the NICU team, the damage was too severe, and our beautiful Billie was unable to survive.”
For 10 days The Women’s NICU became home for Dan, Dani and Billie.
“The doctors, nurses, and staff (affectionately known as ‘Billie’s Besties’) didn’t just care for Billie; they cared for us as a family. They held space for our love, our grief, and our need to make memories in the time we had.”
