We experienced a special moment during the most recent press conference with Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis.

He answered several questions about the physical nature of Game 1, his decisions on defense, and the possibility of making changes.

In short, he quickly realized that the reporters were beating around the bush, but clearly wanted to talk about Arber Xhekaj’s absence from the lineup.

And that’s when MSL decided to address the matter, once and for all.

Martin St-Louis speaks his mind about Arber Xhekaj

Let’s recall that Xhekaj will once again be scratched for Game 2 tonight, and that the Sheriff hasn’t played since April 6.

He clearly no longer seems to be part of the regular plans.

And he added this:

Reporter: “What do you like about the composition of your defense in general? The pairings, what gives you confidence that you can continue to roll them as you go along in the series?”

MSL: “That’s a deep question. I know what you guys are just trying to get me to answer. I don’t know. I have Arber Xhekaj. It’s a card. I might play him. I don’t know yet. But it’s good to have.”

And he seemed irritated by the questions on the topic.

The message is pretty clear.

So don’t expect Arber Xhekaj to be thrown into the action anytime soon.

More details to follow.
