Something unexpected might be brewing in Montreal — and it could affect the Canadiens’ plans ahead of their highly anticipated showdown with the Ottawa Senators this Saturday at the Bell Centre. After an intense road trip that left the team sitting proudly atop the Atlantic Division standings, fans were expecting to see their favorite players back on the ice for a scheduled practice. But according to insider reports, something might be changing behind the scenes — and it’s not what anyone predicted.

Rumors began swirling late Thursday when trusted journalist Priyanta Emrith dropped a subtle hint suggesting the Canadiens’ official practice could be cancelled. The reason? It’s not injury-related, and it’s not a coaching shake-up either — though the explanation might surprise even the most dedicated fans.

If true, this decision could shift the team’s rhythm, influence lineup updates, and alter how they prepare for Saturday’s big game against Ottawa. With momentum at its peak and the city buzzing with excitement, one question hangs over Montreal: what’s really happening inside the Canadiens’ camp today?

All signs point to an announcement coming soon — and it might reveal more than just a simple change of schedule.

In preparation for the next game of the Montreal Canadiens – which will take place Saturday at the Bell Centre against the Ottawa Senators – there’s an update.

An official team practice is currently on the schedule for the Canadiens, but according to the excellent Priyanta Emrith, that session might be cancelled.

“They do have practices scheduled for both days at the moment, however that’s TBC… tomorrow I could see the guys getting the full day off to spend with family, etc… after the long road trip but I’d say they’ll definitely skate on Friday ahead of Saturday’s game”

So, tomorrow’s practice could be cancelled by the Canadiens!

It’s worth noting for those who planned to attend (live from Brossard), and also worth noting because it means we won’t see much action in terms of injury or lineup updates, and so on.

The Montreal Canadiens could announce the cancellation of tomorrow’s practice, in preparation for the upcoming game against the Ottawa Senators

Confirmation to come…

Let’s recall that the Canadiens players are returning home today with a record of 8 wins and 3 losses – holding 1st place in the Atlantic Division, tied for 1st in the Eastern Conference, and tied for 1st overall in the NHL standings.

The other teams at the top are the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, Utah Mammoth, and Colorado Avalanche.

Let’s recall, Caufield is also returning home after breaking a few records, including the most OT goals in Canadiens franchise history!

Let’s just say that if this is confirmed, tomorrow would be a well-deserved day off for Martin St-Louis’ squad!
