For some time now, multiple trade rumors have suggested that Dylan Cozens could be headed to the Montreal Canadiens.
The Buffalo Sabres forward is reportedly on the market, according to several experts. Ever since it became clear that Kirby Dach won’t return this season, Canadiens fans have already started picturing the 24-year-old in the team’s colors.
But not everyone sees things through rose-colored glasses or believes that Dylan Cozens has the potential to become a quality second-line center in the NHL.

During an appearance on BPM Sports, the former NHL goaltender, now an analyst for TSN, was not very complimentary about Cozens.
“He had an incredible season two years ago with 31 goals and 68 points, but that will never happen again.
I really want him to succeed, but sometimes I watch his game and I wonder.. something is missing.
He doesn’t have the necessary hockey sense to play as a top-six center.”

That likely explains why Kent Hughes hasn’t made a move to acquire him, if he sees the same flaws that Biron does.
Let’s just say that Biron’s comments won’t sit well with Canadiens fans hoping that Kent Hughes lands Cozens via trade.
A first-round pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2019, Cozens had an outstanding season in 2022-23, recording 68 points. However, since then, his offensive production has drastically declined.
In 59 games this season, he has only 30 points, which is far from ideal for a player earning $7 million per year for the next five seasons.
