In a shocking (but not entirely surprising) move, the NFL has spoken out about the controversial call that changed the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. Rules analyst Gene Steratore gave his “final verdict” on the call, and it… well, let’s just say it didn’t make everyone any happier.
“After a thorough review of the tape, we have determined that the call… well, it’s actually not important,” Steratore said. “We know that fans have been arguing about this for weeks, but we decided it would be best if we just let it go and hope people forget about it.”
Of course, fans weren’t happy about this. “Too late!” they cried on social media. “We’ve watched that video a million times! We know it was a bad call!”
Some fans even went so far as to suggest that the NFL is trying to protect its image. “They don’t want to admit they made a mistake,” one fan wrote. “It would make them look bad.”
It’s unclear at this point whether the NFL will make any changes to its rules. But one thing’s for sure: fans won’t be forgetting this anytime soon.
And in a related development, the NFL also announced that it is developing a new test that can detect whether a referee is biased. “It’s called ‘The Truth Serum,’” an NFL spokesperson said. “And it will be available tomorrow.”
