As you know, it was a rather quiet trade deadline for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens. Hughes didn’t buy anything, but he didn’t sell anything either, which is not insignificant.
However, some opportunities did present themselves.
We now also know that the Winnipeg Jets seriously attempted to acquire David Savard and that an offer was made, but to no avail.

Personally, I have no problem with this decision, and I don’t see how refusing to trade such a solid veteran like David Savard could harm a rebuild.
