In the aftermath of a chaotic night on the ice, the hockey world woke up buzzing with anticipation, bracing for the NHL’s response to an explosive series of comments from Montreal Canadiens players and their coach. The air was thick with expectation—surely, the league would act swiftly and decisively. Yet, as the hours ticked by, a surprising silence settled over the situation, leaving fans and analysts alike searching for answers.
The Canadiens, still reeling from a dramatic loss to the Edmonton Oilers, didn’t hold back their frustration. Their words were bold, direct, and, under normal circumstances, potentially costly. But as the dust began to settle, one glaring question remained: why hasn’t the NHL handed down any fines? Is the league quietly hoping the controversy will fade, or is something bigger at play behind the scenes?
Social media erupted with speculation, as a single post summed up what many were thinking: “No fines for the Habs last night eh? It’s almost as if they were right.” The lack of action has only intensified the intrigue, and with emotions still running high, the story is far from over. What will happen next? The answers may surprise you.

After the “storm” from the night before, many expected the NHL to react quickly to the comments made by some Montreal Canadiens players – and even by Martin St-Louis.
But against all expectations, no fines have been announced yet, and that’s raising quite a few questions.
HFTV Sports summed up the general feeling among fans in a post shared on X:
“No fines for the Habs last night eh? It’s almost as if they were right”

A simple “tweet,” but one that says a lot…
Maybe the NHL is trying to sweep it all “under the rug” to avoid drawing too much attention?
The Canadiens’ comments have been making waves since yesterday
We remember that Brendan Gallagher, Cole Caufield, and Martin St-Louis all clearly expressed their frustration after the 6-5 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
“The refs kind of took over the game there and kudos to them for winning it.” – Cole Caufield

They felt that several questionable penalties had changed the course of the game.
Gallagher notably said:
“I’m going to be honest with you, started with Slaf’s penalty. Talked to him after that one, they admitted it wasn’t a penalty, made a mistake.”
Very strong words – the kind that, under normal NHL rules, could easily have led to a financial penalty.
I must say, I really thought fines were coming…
But for now, nothing has been announced.
And it gives the impression that the league prefers to let the dust settle rather than stir things up further.
In the meantime, fans are enjoying a small moment of moral revenge. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing!
