In a dramatic twist that few could have predicted, the Montreal Canadiens found themselves at the center of yet another headline-grabbing NHL decision last night in Chicago.
While the scoreboard told one story, the league’s officials had another, quietly rewriting the outcome of a crucial moment after the final buzzer sounded. The Canadiens’ third and game-winning goal, initially celebrated as Juraj Slafkovsky’s shining achievement, was abruptly reassigned to Kaiden Guhle—leaving fans, analysts, and even players questioning what really transpired on the ice.
This isn’t the first time a Canadiens goal has been changed in recent days, sparking a wave of curiosity and debate throughout the hockey world. Was it a simple correction or a sign of deeper confusion behind the scenes?
And how did Slafkovsky’s remarkable effort, which played a pivotal role in securing Montreal’s victory, get overshadowed in the official records? As the dust settles and attention shifts to the next matchup, the lingering questions and hidden drama surrounding this decision promise to keep fans talking.
What does this mean for the Canadiens going forward, and could it impact the team’s momentum this season? Dive deeper into the full story to uncover the intriguing details and surprising implications.

For those who missed it, note that another Montreal Canadiens goal was indeed changed by the National Hockey League last night.
After the small “mix-up” surrounding the goal that was taken away from Zachary Bolduc a few days ago (and credited instead to Quebec native Alexandre Carrier), this time it was Juraj Slafkovsky’s turn to have a goal removed by the NHL.
Initially announced as an official goal by Slafkovsky, the National Hockey League later changed its decision and announced that the Canadiens’ third goal last night in Chicago (the game-winner) was awarded to Kaiden Guhle!

The Montreal Canadiens’ third goal was taken away from Juraj Slafkovsky and awarded to Kaiden Guhle!
In this case, it seems much clearer to me than in the situation involving the goal that was taken away from Zack Bolduc.
KAIDEN GUHLE 🤭

That said, we still want to highlight the incredible work by Slafkovsky on that goal, which directly allowed the Canadiens to secure the win!
The goal wasn’t credited to him, but it was largely thanks to his effort that the Habs were able to grab both points at the end of the game!
Encore une fois, Juraj Slafkovsky était positionné devant le filet, la où c’est payant. 👇👇👇
(On donne finalement le but à Kaiden Guhle.)
Rien de parfait, mais le Canadien revient à la maison avec 2 victoires en 3 matchs à l’extérieur.#GoHabsGo #Slafkovsky #NHLFaceOff https://t.co/fv5KDKO9c1

Juraj Slafkovsky in front of net is tough to handle for opponents #Habs

If we keep seeing this version of Juraj Slafkovsky this season-and if he continues to be such a strong, active presence in front of the opposing net-it will be a major boost for Martin St-Louis’ squad!
Bon dimanche à tous, mais surtout à Kaiden Guhle
Happy Sunday to everybody, but especially Kaiden Guhle#GoHabsGo pic.twitter.com/buA5CsYl7p

Once again, there were plenty of positives to take away from last night’s game in Chicago!
