Everything seems to be going well for the Montreal Canadiens right now. The team is winning, their pursuers are losing, and on top of that, Kent Hughes signed what might be the best prospect in the entire National Hockey League.
Last night, the Canadiens’ situation could have improved even more with a loss by the New York Rangers, who many see as the biggest threat, and good news!
Not only did the Rangers lose, but they completely collapsed and let it slip away in regulation time!
Artemi Panarin’s squad fell 8-5 to the Philadelphia Flyers last night.
That practically eliminates them from the playoff race! Wow!
Less pressure on Ivan Demidov’s shoulders
Following that loss, it’s very possible that Demidov will play his first NHL game with the team already locked into a playoff spot!
That would be fantastic.
The Canadiens could clinch their playoff spot as early as tomorrow night!
It would be quite advantageous, if the Canadiens manage to lock in their playoff spot even before Demidov is inserted into the lineup.
It would give him one or two “free” games to simply play and get used to NHL hockey before the playoffs.
It’ll be something to watch tonight, with several key matchups on the schedule.
