The seventh room reveals of the season have been unveiled.

With this year’s season of The Block now past the halfway point, the competition is well and truly heating up. Sunday night’s episode saw the teams receive mixed feedback from the judges as they each presented the heart of their home: the kitchen.
The teams were given the same area, timeframe, and suggested budget of $10,000, although some chose to change their layout from the architect’s original floor plan. In the end, it was a close battle, with two teams emerging victorious in the first tie of the season.
House 1 (Emma and Ben)
The judges were thrilled to see that Emma and Ben had not only changed the layout of their living and dining space, but also delivered an impressive kitchen. The only criticism was the placement of the fridge, which was next to the entrance of the main bedroom.
“I really think just their layout has let them down today,” Shaynna Blaze shared. “I feel the fridge right where the main bedroom is is a real issue.”

House 2 (Han and Can)
Although Marty Fox and Darren Palmer absolutely loved Han and Can’s “flamboyant” kitchen, Shaynna was much more critical of the space. Not only did she agree with Scott Cam’s earlier comment that the range hood was far too low, but she brutally remarked that the room had “no heart”.
“I come to Daylesford to be nurtured, I come to Daylesford to be hugged, and I feel like I have to be very careful where I stand in this place,” she said. “The more I stand here, the more I go, I want to get out of here.”

House 3 (Britt and Taz)
Britt and Taz were the front-runners entering kitchen week as they had previously won around $175,000 worth of appliances in week two, including a fridge, oven, and dishwasher. Thankfully, the judges were “blown away” by the “breathtaking” appliances, architecture, and layout, and thought the kitchen had an emotional connection.
“It’s so beautiful, it’s so impactful,” Darren said. “This is such a gorgeous, considered result, and it elevates this room to the stratosphere. It’s next level.”

House 4 (Sonny and Alicia)
Similar to Emma and Ben, the judges thought that Sonny and Alicia had “rescued” their house by completely changing their living and dining room. Darren and Shaynna were equally as thrilled by their kitchen’s bold blue colour and successful spatial planning; however, Marty said there was nothing from a marketing perspective that stood out.
“There’s no elegance, there’s no sophistication, it doesn’t feel luxurious, and it doesn’t feel expensive. I’m totally disengaged,” he said. “I really don’t like this room.”

House 5 (Robby and Mat)
After coming last with their disastrous rumpus room the previous week, the judges absolutely loved Robby and Mat’s kitchen. They described it as an “upmarket, modern Daylesford kitchen” with “stunning” art and an impressive layout, but criticised the practicality of the fake door into the main bedroom.
“It just feels so luxurious, but not pretentious. It has that level of sophistication that I know the buyers are going to love, and it’s not going to date; it’s timeless,” Marty said. “For me, this week, this one is really hard to fault.”

Who won The Block week seven?
Ultimately, Britt and Taz, along with Robby and Mat, were announced as joint winners with an equal score of 28.5. Each team received $10,000 cash, and they will both join Scott Cam for Monday night’s getaway.
Meanwhile, Sonny and Alicia were once again announced as the winners of the $10,000 Commonwealth Bank award for spending the least amount of money, just $120 less than Emma and Ben.
