The Voice fans were left stunned during Sunday night’s shock episode, when series coach Ronan Keating suddenly stormed out of the studio.

In a surprising turn, the Irish singer, 48, told his fellow coaches he was ‘really struggling’ and needed to leave his seat to run backstage.

The dramatic exit came after the Boyzone star initially dismissed a young singer, Hunter, during the show – only to change his mind and bring him back later on.

‘There is an artist I just can’t get out of my head. I just need to sort something out, please just give me a minute,’ Ronan said as he hurried from his chair.

His shock move confused the coaching panel, with Richard Marx asking Mel C, ‘Do you know what’s going on?’

Meanwhile, Kate Miller-Heidke called out, ‘Wait, where are you going?’ as Ronan left the set.

Backstage, Ronan summoned Hunter to tell him he would be advancing, praising the young singer’s rendition of Strong by London Grammar.

Once Hunter was back on stage, Ronan explained his unusual decision.

‘I’m in big trouble with everybody, including the coaches. We’ve got ten seconds to make decisions… pressure!’ he said.

‘You want the right team and you are looking at your Saves. Great people go home, but for me…’ he added, before pressing his Save button, ensuring Hunter would move to the next round.

The hitmaker admitted his earlier choice of eliminating Hunter had been a ‘big mistake’, adding, ‘I can’t let him go home.’

‘Is this like a retrospective save?’ co-host Sonia Kruger asked, to which Ronan confirmed with a cheeky smile.

‘It’s allowed… it’s in the small print!’ he quipped.

Daily Mail can reveal international recruits Richard Marx and Mel C each secured deals ‘north of $1 million’ for their debut season.

‘Richard wasn’t going to uproot himself from the US unless it made sense financially,’ one well-placed insider revealed.
