Wynne Evans has said he will ‘regret for the rest of my life’ his controversial ‘spit roast’ comment during Strictly Come Dancing.
At the start of the year the 53-year-old was caught on camera by the Daily Mail seemingly suggesting a three-way sex session with host and Strictly professional Janette Manrara.
The comment came at a photocall to launch the Strictly live tour and swiftly earned a rebuke from BBC bosses who told him: ‘We will not tolerate such behaviour.’
While Wynne apologised at the time, he later claimed he was forced to and denied it was a sexual jibe, insisting he used the term ‘spit roast’ as a nickname for fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick.
After an investigation into his behaviour, BBC bosses told Wynne they would not be renewing his yearly rolling contract, bringing an end to his radio show.
Now, Wynne has said he will ‘regret’ making the comment ‘for the rest of my life’ in a new interview that was broadcast on Friday.

Appearing on Nick Ferrari’s LBC show, the disgraced star said: ‘I said the word so I should have accountability for that, and I wasn’t ready for that level of scrutiny, and I shouldn’t have done it. And that’s it.
‘I wouldn’t blame anybody other than myself.
‘I totally take that as my responsibility and something that I shouldn’t have done, and I will regret that for the rest of my life.
‘At 53 you know, to lose all your singing work, to lose all your television work, to lose your radio show, it’s not an easy thing to have happen to you, but it was my fault.’
During the interview, Wynne also said he wishes he left Strictly when his ‘mental health began to suffer’ though praised the hit show.
He explained: ‘You cannot get your head around the press and media interest that there is in this show. So everything you do is under scrutiny.’
Wynne continued: ‘The one thing I wish I’d done is, I wish I’d left when my mental health started to suffer, when I started to not feel comfortable in the situation.’
It was previously reported that BBC bosses are standing by the Strictly star who has been accused of using cocaine by embittered Wynne.

The unnamed member of the show, who is said to be ‘living a life of torment’ since the allegations, has been handed a central role in this year’s series, despite an external investigation being launched by the Corporation in July.
One insider said: ‘The BBC are fed up with Wynne causing trouble for their beloved Strictly and they have shown huge loyalty to this person by standing by them and making sure they are very much involved in this year’s show.’
The Daily Mail’s Katie Hind was previously told that ‘an immense amount of pressure’ had been put on the BBC to oust the star from the popular dance show.
Last month, The Sun reported that it was Wynne who made a legal submission to the BBC about alleged drug use in March this year via his law firm Russells.
Wynne, who now hosts a radio show on his own website, has also said on air that he made the BBC’s director general Tim Davie aware that illegal activities had taken place on the show.
Earlier this month, Wynne offered his fans a chance to ‘win a long weekend at his house in Wales’ after launching a supporters club.
His followers are able to support him through his website where they can become a ‘Wynner’ for £4.10 a month or £6.50 for two.
Members of his club will be entered into quarterly competitions, have access to priority bookings and receive a club newsletter amongst other perks.
The house in Llansteffan, Wales features three bedrooms meaning six lucky guests will be able to enjoy a free trip to the seaside village in this quarter’s prize draw.
