Big Brother Australia finally returned to screens on Sunday night, but fans quickly spotted a major issue with the Channel 10 reboot.
Big Brother Australia suffered a huge technical blunder at the end of Sunday night’s premiere as some viewers ran into difficulty taking part in this season’s first vote.
Host Mel Tracina announced at the end of the launch episode that viewers could decide the fate of two potential housemates by casting a vote on who they wanted to see enter the house in Dreamworld, on the Gold Coast.
Fans were told they could vote online to choose whether the 13th housemate would be 67-year-old Jane or 36-year-old Mitch, with the winning contestant entering the house on Monday night.
A QR code flashed on screens which took viewers to 10’s app – but fans were left unable to cast a vote.
Fans who selected “vote now” were hit with a warning message that read: “User required. We were unable to validate your user. Please ensure you are logged in and try again.”

Big Brother fans rushed to the show’s official Instagram page to complain about the problem in the comments.
“The voting link is not working properly,” one viewer wrote while another added: “Fix the voting link.”
“The QR code to vote leads to an app download and that’s it,” a third said.
After becoming aware of the problem, Big Brother’s official account replied to the comments with assurances such as “Big Brother is on the case” and “We’re currently working on it”.
The account subsequently revealed on Instagram Stories that the volume of interest in voting had caused the website to crash.
“What a launch. Big Brother is back with the most interactive season ever and all your votes have crashed our website,” it read.
This much-anticipated reboot has promised to be “the authentic, OG show you fell in love with all those years ago”.
Viewers can expect live nominations, live evictions and 24/7 streaming as the show returned to its original home on Channel 10.
However, fans of Big Brother Up Late and Uncut will be disappointed with the spin-off not returning this year.
The brand-new series appears to be living up to its promise of “the most interactive season” with viewers already asked to get involved with the first shopping task.
Not only did viewers get the chance to decide the fate of the 13th housemate, Big Brother also asked fans to rank housemates from most to least intelligent, with the results directly impacting the first task.
Big Brother is airing Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, and Sundays at 7pm.
