Chris Hemsworth is known for his action roles in movies like Thor, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and Extraction, and it seems he’s had a love for adventure since he was just a teen. The Australian A-lister has shared a clip from his new documentary, Chris Hemsworth’s Road Trip to Remember, which showed him channelling the late Steve Irwin in a homemade movie.
In the clip, Chris, his dad, Craig, and mum, Leonie, sat down to watch the former Home and Away actor’s first “movie” gig. In the clip, which is meant to be an episode of The Crocodile Hunter, Chris told the camera that they would be on the lookout for the fictional Siberian tiger Australian fox.
“How you going folks?” a young Chris said in his best Steve Irwin accent.
“We’ve got a real bloody ripper in store for you today. It’s gonna be bloody unreal!”
In the clip, Chris grabbed the family dog and pretended he was a deadly animal.
The actor made sure to add that the dog wasn’t hurt during filming.
“Next week, we’ll be chasing the Australian grasshopper! Can’t wait!” teenage Chris said.
Craig said the footage was “gold” as the family saw Chris’s humble roots.
“My first self-appointed, unofficial acting gig,” Chris captioned the clip on Instagram. “I drew inspiration from one of my heroes, the Crocodile Hunter himself.
“Thanks for getting me my highest grade ever in school, a C-.”
Robert Irwin commented on the clip, saying that he thought Steve “would’ve been stoked” by the impersonation.
“I’m quite convinced you and @chrishemsworth are brothers at this point,” one fan joked about the interaction between Robert and Chris.
“He should officially do the movie now,” wrote a third. “He is perfect for the part.”
Terri Irwin, Steve’s wife, also commented that Chris is “truly a Wildlife Warrior”.
Chris Hemsworth reveals heartbreaking family health update
Chris made the documentary after he and his family learned that his father had been diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s.
The documentary was designed to take him and his father on a “road trip back in time”, hoping that by revisiting key places from their past, he could help his Dad keep his memories in tact.
“This emotional journey across Australia becomes a chance for Chris and Craig to deepen their bond, relive memories, and discover how love, community and nostalgia can be potent medicine,” National Geographic said of the documentary.

“My Dad and I are going on a road trip, back into our past,” Chris said in the trailer
“I want to do everything that I can to help him. Turns out, this experience could help fight the disease.”
Chris noted that the documentary was “about connection”.
“My Dad and I had always spoken about taking a trip back to the Northern Territory, where our family had lived years ago, but we had never been able to set aside the time to actually do it,” Chris wrote on Instagram alongside the trailer.
“More recently, the idea of taking that road trip reemerged with more pressing importance.
“The result was a more profound, more moving, and more surprising journey than I ever anticipated.”
