The Milwaukee Bucks clinched a spot in the NBA playoffs after winning eight games in a row.

That run is even more impressive considering the absence of Damian Lillard, one of their top stars. In response, Giannis Antetokounmpo stepped up and regained his consistency. His performances kept Bucks in the fight.

However, Lillard’s injury hurt the Bucks’ status as championship contenders. Many doubted if they could stay competitive without him. Now, that could change. A new update on his recovery has sparked hope among fans.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Damian Lillard is expected to return to the court in Game 2 or Game 3 of the playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.

Also, a report claimed that Lillard’s recovery has been so remarkable that doctors involved in his treatment have described it as unprecedented.

However, the Milwaukee Bucks released a statement shortly after. They acknowledged Lillard’s progress but stressed that his health comes first.

Because of that, if he does return as expected, his playtime will likely be limited. The team will probably reintroduce him gradually.

On Friday, April 18, Lillard spoke to the media and gave an update on his condition. They were just like, ‘we don’t see this…For me, I was just like, it was a different experience for me because I went in there a bunch of times and it was the same size.

So I’m like, it didn’t seem that special and then it just reached a point where it just got a lot smaller out of nowhere. They did say that.

How was Damian Lillard’s performance this NBA regular season?

Damian Lillard played 58 games this season. He averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. He ranked second in scoring for the Milwaukee Bucks. He also led the team in assists.

Together with Giannis Antetokounmpo, they formed an elite offensive duo. They became one of the most productive tandems in the entire league.

Because of that, Bucks fans now hope to see that dominant offense return. Lillard’s comeback could reignite their contender status relieving Giannis from carrying the creative load. That way, he could focus more on what he does best scoring efficiently and aggressively.
