After weeks, we are just days away from watching as Australia’s first Golden Bachelor Bear, 61, makes the ultimate final decision in his journey to love.

He has just two women remaining, Janette and Sunny, and they could not be more different.

While we’ll have to wait until Sunday to see who Bear declares his love to, we’re taking a trip down memory lane to look back at how we got here.

Janette is a 61-year-old Pilates instructor and studio owner from Melbourne and while she’s struggled to open up to Bear at times, one thing’s for certain – their spark was immediate.

Dressed in a dazzling red gown, Bear couldn’t help but let out a “wow” at the sight of her.

Janette brought along a poem she’d written just for him and while her nerves were obvious from her shaking hands, Bear made her comfortable by holding them as she read.

“If you’re ready for laughter, for passion, for fun, then perhaps our journey has just begun,” she shared – and how right she was.

It made quite the impression on the Bachelor, who pulled Janette aside for a private chat during the cocktail party.

“As I’m talking to Janette, I can’t keep my eyes off her beautiful smile. She’s class and glamour all wrapped into one,” Bear beamed.

Bear and Janette’s first single date

That early chemistry made Janette the envy of the mansion, as she was the lucky lady chosen for the first ever single date.

They set sail on Sydney Harbour, before sitting down for a romantic beach picnic.

The pair discussed lessons they’d learned from their past marriages and dating experience, finding a common ground in being ready to find a forever partner.

The chemistry was obvious, even before Bear pulled out a rose and Janette accepted it with the first kiss of the season!

They ended the date with a dip in the ocean, just in case the day hadn’t already been romantic enough!

Janette impresses Bear with high-energy charity performance

In Episode 4, Bear and the women put on a charity gala for the Cancer Council.

The women were the talent, of course, and Janette put her workout instructor hat on to raise some money!

She led an inspiring (and innuendo-filled) aerobics performance with Catherine and Jan.

“These ladies certainly have the moves,” Bear reacted.

“I don’t recall the 80s being as good as this. Maybe I should’ve done more aerobics.”

Safe to say he loved it, then!

Janette gets special treatment during SUPBall tournament

Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed Janette stayed safe on shore while the rest of the group put themselves on the line in a very intense game of SUPBall during the camping trip in Episode 5.

She suffered a knee injury that put her out of action, and while that’s certainly not ideal, there was a silver lining.

She arrived at the date thanks to a piggy back from Bear. Hey, you’ve got to cherish all the quality time you get on this journey!

Janette and Bear take some time during rose ceremony

In an unseen moment, Janette and Bear were able to sneak some time away from the rest of the women ahead of the fifth rose ceremony.

Considering five women were sent home later that night, it was especially important to ensure they still had a strong connection.

Janette and Bear bond at movie night

In Episode 6, Bear arranged a movie night where all the women got to watch messages from their loved ones at home.

“It’s been a long time since Bear and I have spent some quality time together,” Janette said. “I hope that he sees the love in my family.”

He certainly did, as Bear loved seeing an insight into her tightknit, loving circle.

Janette told Bear all about being a grandparent and what a special time that is, which Bear loved hearing as he anticipated it happening to him one day!

“Thank you, that was really special,” she said.

Later, Bear shared with them footage of his past, how he lost his wife Audrey and raised his boys alone.

Afterwards, Janette said it showed so much “strength and deep emotion” to raise his sons alone and have them speak so highly of him.

“I admire him,” she reacted.

Bear took his final five to the Sydney Opera House for a dance class group date and it was immediately clear that Janette was not herself.

As she watched him dance with the other women, she got more and more in her head.

“I do like him and I can imagine a future with him in it but it’s really hard to say in this environment,” she said.

She was so uncomfortable during her turn dancing that she couldn’t even look Bear in the eye.

He definitely noticed – and hoped to get to the bottom of it.

Janette receives second single date with Bear

Just five women remained and everyone had enjoyed special one-on-one time with Bear, so Janette was the lucky lady to receive a second single date.

It was a good one – as they took to the seas (again), this time on a cruise ship.

Janette wanted to take the opportunity to tell him how she felt, especially the dance group date disaster.

However, she didn’t take her chance to really open up – and was worried that would impact her going forward.

“I have fallen for him already… I had my moment to say what I should’ve said and I didn’t take it, I got scared,” she said.

Janette puts Bear through his paces in unseen beach workout

During Hometowns, Bear head south to Melbourne and met Janette at her local beach.

Though we saw their romantic beach picnic, one moment that didn’t air was a workout Janette organised to give Bear a taste of her active lifestyle!

Afterwards, they both still had smiles plastered across their faces.

They later sat down for refreshments where Janette caught him up on the days plans, and what kind of interrogations he was about to face…

Bear meets Janette’s family and friends

Bear met Janette’s mum, sons, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and bestie Leanne, who she correctly tapped as the one most likely to give him a hard time!

He won over her children with talk of their instant connection, but Leanne was a little harder to please.

“I looked into his eyes and I’m not really sure I see a genuine person,” Leanne said.

She asked if he’d move for love and wasn’t impressed when he admitted geography could be an issue.

Luckily, he was able to turn it around and Leanne left thinking Bear had “a gorgeous heart, gorgeous soul and I see them going far”.

Janette struggles to open up – again

As their Hometown Visit came to an end, Janette was determined to let her walls down and tell Bear the strength of her feelings for him.

But as they said their goodbyes, she again could not get the words out.

“Oh my God, why can’t I do it?” she sobbed once he’d left.

Despite being less forthcoming about her feelings than fellow finalists Sunny and Kim, Janette received a rose and will head to South Africa for Sunday’s Grand Finale.
