Robert Irwin’s sweet demeanour is winning him a lot of fans as he battles it out on Dancing With The Stars US.

Robert Irwin is one of Australia’s most popular exports, and he’s earning himself even more fans as he wows the world with his abilities on the US version of Dancing With The Stars. The 21-year-old Wildlife Warrior hopes to follow in his sister, Bindi Irwin’s, footsteps and take home the Mirrorball Trophy, just as she did 10 years ago.

Robert and his dance partner performed a tango on the show on Wednesday, and while audiences were left underwhelmed with the judges’ scores, one thing is for sure — they really love Robert. After their performance, the pair spoke to Good Morning America, where the young star stunned Americans with a good old Aussie-ism.

Witney was asked how Robert is off-camera, to which she replied, “So, how he is on-camera, and this big, bubbly, positive, fun guy, is exactly how he is in rehearsal.

“I’ve tried to poke at him a little bit, to see if he gets frustrated, and the closest thing is – he says, ‘Far out.’

“He’s like, ‘Oh, far out!’ And then I know he’s really frustrated.”

Robert then explained further, “This is an Australian thing which is, ‘Far out, Brussels sprout!’

“That means, like, I’m really annoyed, so that’s as bad as it gets.”

Witney added, “He’s so fun, though!”

Robert Irwin fans react to funny Aussie phrase

Robert’s fans thought the phrase was adorable, with one person commenting on the video, “I will now be utilising the phrase ‘far out Brussels sprout’ whenever I can.”

“Can confirm, we do indeed say this,” Aussie YouTuber Georgia McCudden added.

“That’s so cute and not even bad – green flag energy! Best pairing,” another said.

Others said they didn’t think he could “get any cuter”, and then they saw this video.

“Wow that has to be the cutest way to say one is frustrated,” another fan said.

“She basically said, ‘Guys this guy is an on-cam and off-cam giant golden retriever,’ we all knew that already, but still cool,” someone else wrote.

Robert Irwin confirms he’s single and ready to date

It comes after Robert admitted that he would love to meet an American girl while he’s in the States for the dancing competition.

Despite fans believing he and Witney have incredible chemistry together, the Aussie revealed that his married dance partner is like an older sister who is helping him with the search.

Witney joked to E! News that Robert could be “single forever” due to the intense screening process she and his older sister, Bindi, will put them through.

“We are still looking for the American girl,” Robert said.

“You have to kind of go through a screening process, so submit your applications through my DMs [direct messages], and then I will forward them to Bindi, and then we will see about the American tourist,” Witney joked.

“I’ve got another protective older sister now,” Robert said of Witney.

When asked what he’s looking for in a girlfriend, the young star said he thinks “genuine kindness” is “so important”.

“I think you need to surround yourself with people who are genuinely kind,” he said.

“And also, my life is a whirlwind, it’s an adventure and I would love to be able to share that with someone and to share those little moments.”

Robert has admitted previously that he hopes to follow in his father, Steve Irwin, and sister’s footsteps by finding love with an American tourist.

Steve found love with his wife, Terri Irwin, when she visited Australia as a tourist. She has never remarried since his death in 2006.

Bindi is married to American Chandler Powell, and the two share a daughter, Grace Warrior, who is four.

“I want to find that [great love] but it’s something you kind of can’t rush,” he said.

“It just has to happen, and you gotta be open to that. So, I know she’s out there and I look forward to it.”

Robert’s last relationship was with Heath Ledger’s niece, Rorie Buckey.

The pair split in February 2024 after going public at the Australian premiere of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One in July 2023.
