Bindi Irwin has revealed she and her four-year-old daughter are unwell in Los Angeles, just months after she was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

Bindi Irwin has revealed she and her young family are all fighting an illness and were forced to sit out her younger brother Robert’s latest Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) performance.

The 27-year-old Australian wildlife conservationist, who moved to Los Angeles with her mother Terri Irwin, husband Chandler Powell and their four-year-old daughter Grace Warrior to support Robert’s journey on the American version of DWTS, took to social media on Tuesday afternoon (local time) to share the news.

Shortly afterwards, Robert, 21, and his professional dance partner Witney Carson, 32, wowed the judges with a gothic Halloween-themed performance of the Argentine tango.

“Chandler, Grace and I all got a bug and I’ve completely lost my voice now…so we will be cheering (quietly) from our living room for Robert and Witney on @dancingwiththestars,” Bindi wrote alongside a picture of her young family.

“They have an incredible dance for Halloween week, beyond proud of their hard work and dedication.”

This is the second time in a row the Irwin Powells have sat out of the DWTS live studio audience, as the Beerwah beauty revealed that Grace had also been suffering from “a little cold” the week prior.

Bindi, who won the American version of DWTS back in 2015, has also faced her own health challenges this year.

In May, she was forced to withdraw from the annual Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas and flown to New York to undergo emergency surgery to remove her appendix and 14 endometriosis lesions.

At the time, Robert told People that his sister was devastated to have missed the gala, which is held annually in honour of their late father, Steve Irwin.

Shortly after her surgery, Bindi also shared a video from her hospital bed to thank her fans for their well wishes.

“Hey guys, Bindi here, I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes, I just got out of surgery about an hour ago,” she said, as hospital equipment beeped softly in the background.

“I just had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed, and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.”

Bindi added: “I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery one step at a time, and I’m so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family.

“Sending love and light your way, and we will get through this.”

While it’s unknown whether Terri sat in the audience to watch Robert’s Halloween performance, she also shared a post in support of her son and encouraged fans to vote.

“Halloween night is next @dancingwiththestars. I can’t wait to see Robert dance the Argentine Tango with Witney. But I do kinda miss my little trick-or-treater!” she said next to a picture of little Robert in a Peter Pan outfit.

The 61-year-old mother-of-two also shared a sweet video of Robert’s “dance history”, showcasing footage of him dancing and singing as a child, as well as his nimble footwork while working with crocodiles at Australia Zoo.

“Robert Irwin has always had the moves,” she said.
